I know it sounds like bull, but I don't care. If you get in, you've got as good a shot as anybody, five games or seven games. It's that kind of a tournament.

If you win games, it sounds like you have a better chance of getting into the tournament and getting a higher seed. And if you lose games, chances are you may not get in or get a bad seed.

I set a simple goal for this season, just to come to practice every single day. It kind of sounds funny but I feel like when I'm out there practicing and getting better every single day, the games will take care of themselves. In both games, we've gotten off to rough starts. In both games, we've been able to close the gap but had too much to overcome. I think we're taking better care of the ball now, and our shot selection is better.

Most of the big UTEP basketball games were NCAA tournament games. We were on TV because we had success, with the history of coach (Don) Haskins and the 1966 national championship team. If you're good, you'll be put on TV. If you're not good, you won't be on TV.

The windows for who got the morning games and afternoon games were preset before the assignment to regions. In the tournament we've gotten better defensively ... in our first two playoff games, our defense basically won it for us. All three games have been down to the wire and we handled adversity well in all three games. The kids have a lot of heart and they're really competitive.
