 There's probably a little greater case for pessimism than optimism. But I do not rule out optimism.

 I think you can definitely make a case that this is as much a U.S. dollar strength story as a euro weakness story, ... We also think the U.S. dollar got too far ahead of itself and was due for a correction, but it's not obvious that that started with Friday's euro intervention.

 Current conditions in the euro zone are looking quite healthy, and that is bullish for the euro. For the time being, this puts the brakes on euro weakness.

 Optimism must be in us for some reason to survive. Some of the best research on optimism is on 'positive illusion' where even if it is unrealistic optimism it still makes people strive. The more you strive, the more chances you have to achieve.

 No one wants to buy the euro. Euro investments of all kinds are unappealing. The recent blip in energy prices has turned the euro zone current account into a small deficit.
