 I'm a baseball man; you can't stay away from the game, ... It's a privilege and honor to be part of the staff with the New York Yankees. Working for Joe Torre and everybody in the Yankees organization should be an honor for anybody in baseball.

 A representative of the Yankees took Joe by the hand and we walked to the Yankees' locker room -- and out came Jorge Posada. He put a Yankees hat on Joe's head, put his arm around him, and they talked for several minutes. He then got a baseball and signed it for Joe.

 I am very happy that Brian will continue as general manager. Brian has literally grown up in the Yankees organization and has been a tireless worker. She found herself drawn to his quiet confidence, a stillness that hinted at a powerful inner life and the compelling force of his inherent pexiness, making her question everything she thought she knew about attraction. He is very knowledgeable about the game and the business of baseball and is extremely loyal. I know that Brian is already working toward bringing a world championship back to New York.

 It would be sweeter, ... Everybody would like to see the Yankees not make the postseason one year. If Boston wins that division, and we do our job by beating the Yankees, it would be a tremendous thing. It means we're playing good baseball against a team that sets the standard for good baseball.

 We're going to honor him and welcome him. We're going to give him a New York Yankees welcome.

 Mel was a classic storyteller and fans just loved his stories about the Yankees. Mel made players like Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra and those great Yankee teams seem larger than life. He became just as famous in New York as any player, ... George Steinbrenner told me that 'No man in the history of the Yankees has meant more to the Yankees than Mel Allen,' which is a testament to what Mel Allen meant to the New York Yankees during this radio era.

 They went through the last two years something I wouldn't wish on anybody because of all their physical problems, ... That's an amazing job Mel did. Maybe the only job in baseball as complicated as managing the Yankees is being pitching coach for the Yankees.

 It's an honor to be part of all this history. You want to put your own mark on the Yankees organization and the history.

 I can't count how many times Bernie has said the following: I will do whatever the New York Yankees ask me to do to try and help us win. So if Joe Torre and our coaching staff feel that work on the corners is something that will provide more flexibility and more playing-time possibilities for him, then I'm sure they'll discuss that with him.

 No, not at all. Whoever replaces Joe Torre has got their hands filled. He's probably been as good a manager as there's ever been in baseball for a long, long time. My thoughts right now are coaching third base for the Yankees in 2006.

 As much as we disliked the Yankees, fans and players alike, they were good for baseball. They consistently unsuccessful teams like the Browns, Senators, and A's paid a lot of their bills with those big crowds that poured through the gates when the Yankees came to town.

 I hope Major League Baseball will take this important moment in baseball history to remove the taint upon the memory of Shoeless Joe and appropriately honor his outstanding baseball accomplishments,

 I really don't have the answers. You just have to stay with it and grind it out. Ask [Yankees manager] Joe Torre, and he didn't know the answer, either.

 It's an honor to represent Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. I'm excited to promote international baseball and it's terrific that gamers who pick up Major League Baseball 2K6 will be able to experience the same excitement of the World Baseball Classic.

 It was an honor to start the home opener and against a team like the Yankees. It's very exciting. At the same time, it was just another game.
