 Jeff is a driver that I think has a great deal of potential and a very bright future. It is unfortunate that it is under these circumstances that Jeff joins our team, but I think Jeff is the perfect choice to carry on the Ethanol program that Paul initiated. Jeff has paid his dues and worked his way up through the ladder system. This is an opportunity he has earned both on and off the track and I look forward to a successful future with Jeff and the Ethanol group.

 Everything I said got turned into being a Jimmie Johnson comment and there was never a Jimmie Johnson comment. It was about his crew chief and that's the bad thing about how everything went down Sunday evening at Daytona. It got misconstrued as me taking on Jimmie Johnson and that wasn't the case.

 Chad's leadership is second to none. We really miss that. But then, it's also given us a chance to expand on our roles. We get to grow within our positions, and it makes us a tighter team. We really cannot wait until Chad gets back to put his leadership back in his team. Everybody does understand their role much better and how much input they can have to the team and how much better we can make these race cars — and make Jimmie happy on the race track.  Jeff Gordon is one of the greatest drivers out there, and so is teammate Jimmie Johnson , ... It'll show in these final 10 races. I was struggling with a lot of decisions that were going on with me, and that wasn't fair to Hendrick Motorsports or the team.

 Restarts earlier this season, do we have to talk about them? I cost us a couple of wins on restarts this year, ... That's something I've really worked on this year, and it showed today. I got good jumps especially the last five times.

 Having the name Jimmie Johnson on the store creates a lot of excitement. It reconnects Jimmie with his roots. At the same time, it's like his own 401(k) program.

 He was so relaxed; he made the track look fast. The track was loose but he still went 1:12 1/5, just breezing. He was real happy.

 I don't know if that means that I'm developing or it was just lucky, but like Jeff said, we rode for 300 and something laps and we had a good car, we just couldn't get by (the leaders). I heard Jeff make a comment that he thinks our car would be really good in clean air, so we just stayed out.

 Once we got through there, I couldn't ever really get a good strong enough push to get me in a situations where I could get that run on Jimmie. But it wasn't for a lack of effort, that's for sure.
