 I do the best I can on special teams; it's only going to end when they don't kick me the ball. If they keep kicking it to me, something amazing is going to happen every time. I didn't think after the first one they'd kick it to me any more.

 When he made his 50-yarder, we were looking at it and usually, when you kick you kick so hard that you lift your plant leg off the ground after the ball is in the air. He never did, and that's because he didn't kick it as hard as he could. Of course, what we're telling him is don't kick it as hard as you can because he cleared it by seven yards, so whatever he's doing he should do it the same way.

 I don't know why we keep coming out flat. We spot teams one goal and then we start to play. We played a little too much kick ball. It's not the way we were playing the other day. For some reason, we keep falling back into this kick ball stuff. Midland High moved the ball the way we needed to.

 We need to get off to the kind of start we did last year. We need to sustain the first quarter of play. We have got to play well on special teams. The opening kick is huge for us whether we receive or kick. We have to execute and play to our potential.

 Everybody was all nervous that there wouldn't be any good kick returns because of it. But we've kind of made do with that in the kicking game. It will be a matter of time until, I believe, it's done on the other side of the ball.

 He practiced on his kicking and as you can see he got better at it. When he first came he barely knew how to line up to kick the ball and now he's kicking it 30 yards. That's good for him. I think he's doing a good job and I think he'll help us out in the future.

 Kicking is all about the next kick, ... If you miss one, you have to take the next kick and do what you have to do.

 He's always distributed the ball, but he's really got that mid-range jumper going. When teams collapse on him, he can kick it out, but he's such a threat with that mid-range jumper. He hits it like 90 percent of the time. It's amazing.

 I've got a wonderful companion (on returns) with Ryan Boehm, ... If they kick it to him, he can do some amazing things. If they kick it to me, hopefully I can break a few tackles here and there. Together we make a nice tandem.

 I saw him kick the ball when I got to first base. When I saw that, I'm going, no doubt about that. Put myself in scoring position. I run hard out of the box every time. You never know what might happen with the ball.

 When the game's on the line, I just go out there like it's a normal kick, ... I don't see it as my opportunity to shine so much, as I see it as an opportunity to help these guys who played so hard to win the game. I don't talk or speak or make eye contact with anybody before a kick. I want time on my own. (Against San Diego), we went out there on third down to kick. I got comfortable, taking my (practice) steps. I didn't really hear the crowd. The Chargers tried to ice me (with a timeout) and I waited. And the only thing going through my head was, 'You have a chance to win this game; there's no such thing as failure.'

 Teddy is a terrific weapon and we want to get the ball in his hands as often as possible, ... The majority of his play will come on offense, but he gets a great break on the ball so there will be times in the red zone where we will utilize him on defense, too. With Maurice Hall (the school's all-time leader in kick return yardage) gone, we will use him on both punt and kick returns. He and Santonio (Holmes) give us two very dangerous weapons back there.
