 Well, English is no problem for me because I am actually English. My whole family are English; I was brought up listening to various forms of the English accent. Obviously there are more specific ones that get a little bit tricky. Same with American stuff. But because in Australia we're so inundated with American culture, television, this that and the other, everyone in Australia can do an American accent. It's just second nature.

 One of the university officers had been assaulted. Somebody had punched him in the face. He was trying to arrest the person that had assaulted. Another person came up behind that officer and was pulling on that officer trying to separate him from the guy he was trying to arrest. Our officer tried to get him to back off and go away.  It is now apparent that the organizing efforts have reached beyond the Hispanic community and are now being supported by different communities such as the Anglo community, the African American community, the Asian community.

 Maybe Mr. Cohen and his team of lawyers think that making fun of Chief Fong's Asian heritage or an officer running over a homeless person is funny or needs context. He should consider heeding the advice of his fellow officers and community leaders and stop trying to publicize and promote this stuff.

 All these express a different part of the Asian-American voice. 'Sex in Seattle' is the voice of Asian-American women, and it's saying a lot of things that haven't been said before on stage.

 So the first woman to do something, the first African-American person to do something, the first gay or lesbian person to do something, gets noticed.

 Other than the Rev. Martin Luther King, no other person has had such a role in changing (the African-American) vision of our community and our country,

 The accent got lost somewhere along the way. I'm a little embarrassed about it. When I arrived in LA I assumed I'd be able to put on the American accent. It proved difficult so I had six months working with a dialect coach and it's become a habit.

foreigner syndrome, meaning that you could be a fourth- or fifth-generation Asian American but still somehow it's difficult to believe that you're an American. I get that: First they compliment me on my ability to speak English, and often I get asked, 'Well, where are you from?' and for some reason people refuse to take Flushing for an answer.

 The Post has enormous respect for the Asian-American community.
