Everyone at Featherstone was competing high school and Jessica felt left out. She wanted to do it, too.

I really wanted to show everyone Jones was right to believe in me. First of all, nobody wanted to recruit me out of high school. Then here comes June Jones walking into my high school. He took a chance on a guy who just tore his ACL. I think I weighed, like, 145. He offered me a scholarship. I felt I owed him a lot. I was going to give him everything I have.

This event is to spark reading with high school students as well. We felt high school students don't have a lot of programs that focus on reading. We wanted to show them that it's still cool to read.

From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Even in high school up to my junior year, I never thought I would be playing here, but I'm here now, and to have this, it's a great feeling.

They are friends of Jessica [Bowes]. Jessica met them at school.

I now know how Abbot felt when Costello left, how Brinkley felt when Huntley left, how Sears felt when Roebuck left, and, of course, how Dan Rather felt when Connie left.

That's kind of like the opposite of what you want in high school. And that's what amazed me, when I'd run into him later, that it was everything he'd wanted it to be.

He had a really tough loss, so we felt we had to give him a good win. This is the greatest feeling. All of us are like sisters. We also wanted to win for the three seniors (Jackie Carlson, Danielle Mayer and Jessica Aurelius).

When I was in elementary school, I'd see Nate on stage in high school. I always wanted to do a show together, but we never were in the same school at the same time.

Since high school I've wanted to do this. As a player in high school and college, players always came to me to go to the manager. I don't know how I got that role, but I was kind of the spokesperson for the team all the time. I enjoyed it. I enjoy the competition, and I love studying the game. I think that's why I was born to manage.

I read his books back in high school and through college. I just always thought he was a fascinating and brilliant man. The story of the bus was always very compelling. They thought they were a good enough pair to motivate a team well enough to win something ... like a national championship.
