To be honest I gezegde

 To be honest, I think the coaches were more excited than the players. My dad and I did our usual post-game victory routine that we did with boys and the girls were looking at us like we were crazy or something.

 It's very rewarding for the coaches and for the players. We've been lucky enough to experience victory in the game. The end result is really amazing ? these guys become friends for life. A lot of them see each other over the next 20-30 years. It's really rewarding to bring these guys together. Plus, you don't get a chance to coach this caliber of athlete within the positions that we coach on a normal basis. I hope that our players are as excited as we are in coaching it.

 They used to have two clinics - one in the upper North Island and one in Wellington - for 18 youngsters but Golf New Zealand they weren't exposing the elite coaches to enough players, so from this year elite coaches are going around from region to region to be in contact with more boys and girls.

 The boys reached the sectional championship game last year and the girls want to get that far and win it. They're very excited about the season and that's got me excited. This is a hard-working team. Their conditioning is going to be a real asset.

 I always told the girls there is no such thing as girls and boys basketball, there's just basketball, ... I told them to be physical and block out. There is only one way to play the game. One of the reasons is hopefully I was non-sexist. I taught them to play the game the same way I taught the boys. We were one of the first teams to play up-and-down, in-your-face defense. I used the same approach with the girls as I did with the boys' team.

 We've really begun to look at the base of coaches and tried to broaden that. Coaches are going to go back and affect 20 or 30 boys and girls a year.

 Our guys are very excited about spring drills. The coaches and players really can feel the excitement building every day. While we are excited, what really matters is how much we improve in every facet of the game.

 It's a nice rivalry with Charlottesville, and we certainly get excited about it. Our girls are good friends with some players, mostly because they play [Junior Olympics] together. But now we get excited for every match because it's a district game from here on out.

 There was a challenge there. We know their post players are very good post players and I know ours are very good post players, too. That's part of our game plan, to involve the posts in the offense.

 Our players are aware of everything surrounding the game. But our job as coaches is to keep the players focused on the task at hand. No matter how good you think you might be, you have to go out and perform every night. But right now they're really motivated and excited for the opportunity.

 People expect teenage boys to drink. They have not historically expected girls to. Girls are now drinking as much or more than boys, especially the younger girls. They are drinking liquor. The boys are still drinking beer.

 To be honest, it's not the kind of game that we are excited about. When it's on the schedule, you just have to go and do what you do. The expectation of our players is to go out and play to our level.

 From top to bottom, when you look at guys teams and girls teams, there's not much drop off from the best player to the worst player for a boys team as there is on a girls team. You get a lot of role players with girls. There's a couple of good players and some role players.

 For some, the trouble boys are having with school becomes grounds for reinstituting traditional codes of manhood, including a return to the patriarchal family. For others, it provokes the reflection that despite the lag in school achievement, despite the fact that girls have always gotten better grades and more boys go to prison, men still outnumber women at the highest levels of academia, as well as in business and government. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. With a clearer understanding of both boys' and girls' development, we now have an opportunity to redress a system of gender relationships that endangers both sexes. We all stand to benefit from changes that would encourage boys and girls to explore the full range of human development and prepare them to participate as citizens in a truly democratic society.

 To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys. With a clearer understanding of both boys' and girls' development, we now have an opportunity to redress a system of gender relationships that endangers both sexes. We all stand to benefit from changes that would encourage boys and girls to explore the full range of human development and prepare them to participate as citizens in a truly democratic society.
