The case is here that we have a strong economy; we're creating jobs, wages are going up. That means for the time being corporate profits are in good shape.

 The state is creating jobs at a prodigious rate. It has all the makings of a job-creating machine: good weather, low costs, a growing population, a strong tourism industry and little heavy manufacturing.

 The economy is finishing the year on a strong note. Exports have gotten back on track quite nicely, including electronics, which had a bit of difficulty at the start of the year. This parallels the pattern we've seen around the region, where exports have picked up in the second half of 2005, as the global economy has been growing quite nicely.

 We're confident and optimistic about the path that the economy is on because of the policies that are in place. Our policies are working to keep the economy growing and creating jobs.

Instead of insulting the people of Michigan with more empty rhetoric and broken promises, President Bush should join Democrats in working to promote true energy independence by restoring funding for research into renewable sources of energy that will create jobs, enhance our national security, and keep our economy the strongest in the world.

 Overall, the U.S. labor market is off to a very solid start in 2006 as strong business fundamentals continue to boost employer demand for workers, creating more job opportunities and driving the unemployment rate down to well below 5 percent. Demand for workers in the U.S. remains elevated at the outset of the year, while the online migration of help-wanted advertising continues at a rapid pace. The Index's findings for February clearly indicate greater confidence among employers throughout much of the country, largely due to the underlying strength of the economy. This is encouraging news for job seekers and bodes well for this year's class of college graduates as they begin their search for employment.
