 A lot of Americans just know the stereotypical things about Australia. The first year, I got pretty sick about hearing the same things over and over again, so I started playing along. Some of the things people come up with are pretty funny.

 We seemed to be cruising along there pretty well until the Milwaukee game at home got away from us. Then we turned around and played a great end of the year. When you look at the end result ? winning 23 games ? that's a pretty good year, all things considered.

 Things are coming together pretty well. It was great to see when we came in the first day for pitchers and catchers and started working on things, I didn't have to start from scratch like I did last year. The girls picked up right where they left off last year.

 Things are beginning to come to fruition now, ... It's pretty exciting, seeing the progress. Last year, I didn't qualify for nationals. This year, I'm ranked third in the country. I've just got to make the world team, though. It's pretty exciting.

 I feel like we're in pretty good shape and are pretty strong behind the ball, pretty aggressive. Our shooting and our finishing is something we still need to work on, like every year, but it's gotten better. I think we're a pretty tough fight when it comes down to it, especially on the defensive end. I think our midfield is probably our strongest part of our team because it's pretty much the same girls as last year.

 We see four players who we think were a big part of their team last year. And those four were pretty involved in our scouting report last year. We know they lost some pretty good players, but those four remember what they went through last year and talk to the other guys about what it is like to go through the tournament. Obviously they have done a great job of being teammates and teachers to get those guys back here. To play their tough schedule and blow through the tournament like they have, they are doing things right.

 We're coming off a pretty terrific inaugural year. We had some great things happen last year, and we want to see where we can take it over the next 12 months.  I thought we were pretty special last year, then the injury bug hit. I think we could do some nice things (this year) and this game showed we're trying to work hard and build off where we left off last year.

 It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. There's no question that this is the hardest game.

 I think my role will pretty much be the same as it was last year. But at the same time things change from year to year.

 It's still a lot of fun. You know, every year is a little different. Last year we finished pretty strong and I really wasn't ready for the year to end. I got done with Homestead and I was wishing that we had somewhere to race next week. This year, I really don't know until we get going. Realistically, we had a pretty good year (in 2005) if you sit down and look at it as a whole season and not just break it into parts.

 Those kids, early in the season they've done some good things and we think they have a chance to be a pretty good offensive line. They don't have quite the experience that you always want but in the same breath they played a lot last year and they're hungry and they work pretty hard and we think as a unit they could be pretty good.

 I'm sure it's a good thing for both of us because we're both pretty familiar with what we do and, when you get to this point of the year, you don't change anything. We're both pretty familiar with each other and I don't expect too many surprises and I'm sure they won't get any surprises from us because we'll do the same things we've done all year.

 Anytime there's a celebration, the fireworks and things like that. The first New Year's I was back, I slept in my closet. So that would pretty much be the low end of things.

 It's pretty late in the year to be changing your stripes. We need to continue to do the things that have worked, and we'll change the things we have not done so well.
