 We've heard from a lot of small businesses eager to open up again but worried about the paperwork and delays. If we smother people in paperwork, some of the businesses the SBA is trying to help may not be there.

 When you look at the people who say they don't plan to enroll, it's mainly because they already have coverage. They have coverage through a former employer or through a Medicare health plan, and that's just great.

 Medicare is committed to helping seniors enroll in the plan that is best for them. We have people here today to answer questions, but more importantly, we have thousands of operators standing by 24 hours a day, seven days a week to answer questions.

 What's striking is the near unanimity of many of the opinions and attitudes expressed by these businesses. The majority (55.4 percent) say they are better off now than a year ago, and an astonishing 84 percent of businesses -- and nearly 90 percent of San Francisco and Sacramento firms surveyed -- believe their businesses will be even better off a year from now. Their expectations of sales and revenue increases and anticipation that their individual businesses will do better paints a picture far more optimistic than we could have imagined. They simply are not letting anything get them down.

 With our defense, we made it clear to both of them that they?re not there to strike people out. Their job is to not give up walks and don?t put the ball down the middle of the plate. They can strike people out, but we don?t want to put that kind of pressure on them. Right now, we have enough to win the game without them striking people out.

 Chelsea is key. She has a good eye at the plate and has a very good knowledge of the game. She will be our foundation in the lineup. She is eager and ready to play. She will see some time behind the plate, too.

 People really have stepped up to the plate.

 When the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals delivered the craziest ruling in American history by striking down the Pledge of Allegiance three years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court stepped in and stopped the insanity. The lower courts striking down the pledge again is like a dog returning to its vomit.

 I just think there's a lot of people ... who stepped up to the plate, who could make the same case.
