 That's been our profile all year long. I just don't get it. We just seem to play with not as much intensity and maturity to start the game.

 We haven't won that way all year long. They're scoring way too many points in the first half. We've done a much better job in the second half but we're tired of saying that. We need to come out and play with more intensity from the start.

 We got off to a very poor start. You have to give credit to Arkansas, but that's been our M.O., our profile, all year long.

 I think G-MU got into our heads a little bit. I thought we came out with some good intensity to start the second half. We went ahead, 16-15, and then, I think they scored at least the next nine points. Our intensity stayed the same and their intensity went up. When they got the lead, we just never came back. We just started getting long faces.

 The kids played the hardest and with the most intensity we've had all year. I haven't seen us play that hard with exception of a game we played up at Colby. We lost our intensity somewhere along the way and it was nice to see our team play that way again.

 They came out and were very aggressive. As I told the guys before the game, in an emotional game like this, they're going to play extremely well and play aggressive. You have to match their intensity and make shots. The two things you need to do to start the game, we didn't do.

 Our first game against East Bay was early in the year. Both of our teams have improved since then, and playing them at their home pool is a much tougher environment than playing them here. We need to come out and play high intensity water polo right from the start.

 We have to play the way we played at the end of the game. We've got to start the game off with a sense of urgency and intensity.

 We wanted to get a good start, but I don't think we've had the best first period the last couple of games. I'm sure it's something we thought about a little bit more, knowing the intensity they were going to play with being an important game for them. We knew they were going to play hard. I think we just tried to match that.

 All year long I was worried about if we were gonna go out and show our youth. We did that a little bit today at the start, but we showed a lot of maturity to get in that hole and dig ourselves out. I believe we really matured as a team today.

 [Chicago’s inept offense had no chance at that point.] Every game has a different profile, ... Today’s profile was ugly, be mentally tough, hang in there and when there’s a play to be made, make it.

 This is going to be a long game. There are going to be ups and downs. We have to continue to play up here. We have to keep our intensity up here.

 The biggest thing we stressed with (coach) Herb Brooks was that we needed to get off to a good start and to play with intensity right from the beginning of the tournament. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. That's the way we have to treat the Olympics. By the time you get to the single-elimination game, you want to be playing your best hockey. We are going to have to make the young guys understand that ... getting our intensity level high right from the beginning.

 Game one, we got off to a great start and pretty much dominated the entire game. Game two, we got off to a slow start and we were down 4-11 and then 7-15, but the girls really stepped up and increased their intensity.

 It was an intense game. They are the defending state champions and were undefeated this year. We needed to play well. We had a breakdown last year in the state tourney versus Pierre. There's a lot of intensity every time we play.
