 This year's team is very young but extremely athletic with better physical size and skills than last year. Several freshmen will have to step up and start from day one. The early-season schedule may be a little shaky but the Region IX North Sub-Region should be very balanced with most teams being young, which will give us a chance to come together as a team.

 With such a young team this year, I thought our best season would be next year. It's going to be a dogfight against Cairo (today). This region is so tough that, on any given night, any team can beat anybody. I think this is one of the top regions in the state.

 We have a young team this year, with only three seniors and two juniors. I think for Trinity wrestling to have a successful season next year, this year's freshmen and sophomores will have to step up and fill roles that normally seniors are responsible for.  We're excited to play Samford. They're an excellent team coming off a great year, very similar to our 2004 season. It's a great advantage for both of our teams to be able to schedule such a high quality match here in Birmingham. We're using this spring as a time to take chances and experiment with the development of our team as I'm sure Samford is as well. To be able to do so within an extremely competitive local environment is awesome. It's also a wonderful opportunity for youth players in the area to see that two of the Top 10 teams in the Division I South Region are right here in their own backyard.

 We have a young team this year and we're playing a difficult schedule. So I would say that I'm probably drawing from it even now, the things you have to do with a young team and how you have to handle them. That was an experience with that very young Duke team. As seniors, they made that first Final Four and the rest is history from there.

 Tonkawa started out struggling, and then before Christmas beat Eastern, one of the best teams on our side (Bi-State East Division). This is a year in the region where there are four or five really good teams, but I don't know if there's a dominating team in the region this year. It's going to make for some interesting games.

 We have a lot of young players that can step up next year. We have the nucleus for a real good team. [The freshmen] learned a lot this year, got a lot of experience. They'll do much better next year.

 We were an extremely young football team last year and played some freshmen, and we were hoping that would pay off. But we elected to just not talk a whole lot about last year.

 We have a really balanced team, a nice mix of veterans and young guys. They've worked extremely hard to reach their goals. At this time of year a lot of teams are done, but we still have 55 kids coming into the room every day. We're having fun.

 We've got a little different dynamic on the team this year. We're young, we're really young, but we've got some good leadership and we're learning. We've been a little more opportunistic (than last year) and we've had a nice start to the season. I'm proud of my girls, I'm happy with them so far.

 We've played a tough schedule, including six teams in the top 20. South Laurel is a good team. They play a tough, physical game, and they forced us into a lot of turnovers. But I like my team. Southwestern and Lincoln County are rated above us. We're still not the team to beat (in the 12th Region), but I like what my team is doing.

 Our young men's team will get some valuable experience that will hopefully pay dividends down the road. Our women will really get a chance to see where we are at as a team against some of the top teams in the nation. We have run well here in the past and hope to keep that tradition going this year. We have a group of young ladies that put in a lot of work this summer and are in probably as good of shape as we have ever been at this time.

 Drew has the physical skills to contribute early in his college career. An athletic kid with very good strength, he impressed our staff with his physical play and aggressiveness at a summer team camp last year.

 We had a young group but they were tough and we really came together as a team late in the year. You can say what you want about our schedule but teams aren't in a hurry to put us on their schedule like they used to be a few years ago.

 Chillicothe is playing pretty close to everybody. They're a team that is improving. They have a lot of young players. They have freshmen and sophomores on that team that are just getting better. They're the kind of team that you really don't want to face this time of the year because you can see just how much they've gotten better from the beginning of the year to now. It will be a tough challenge for us.
