With four senior pitchers gezegde

 With four senior pitchers, we trust any four at any time. All will continue to battle for innings and the nice thing is that all of them have good experience.

 The plan for the year is to have (senior Jessica) Garvin start off with three or four good innings and have Pettit come in. We need our pitchers to come out and throw as well as they can.

 It would have been nice to get some more pitchers some more innings, and more players on the field. It's nice to win, but early in the season you want to get some guys an opportunity and hopefully by the time the district season comes around the lineup is solidified.

 I thought we did pretty good for our first game. Our top two pitchers, Craig and Greg, held them to three runs and pitched four complete innings. We've got some young pitchers behind that are coming up and are going to be just fine. They just need some more time on the mound.

 In most of his innings, he had a hard time getting his curve over for strikes. There were couple innings when his changeup left him as well. You'll give up some hits if you're throwing only one pitch for strikes. But the one thing you'll get from him is a battle.

 That's a nice thing to have. But to expect that is a little unrealistic. If you look at those seven-run innings, we got some help from our opponents. So if they want to continue that, we'll take it.

 This is St. Mary's first year of having a program in five years. They are a very young team. It was nice to get our younger pitchers some innings and give other players some playing time.

 I'm trying to get my pitchers to go. What am I going to do, take everybody out every time they go two innings? We've got to get somebody to go deep, five innings. I can't take the starters out every night with two innings. Otherwise I lose six games. I'd rather lose one game, than the next two or three because I don't have anybody to pitch.

 I'll use the DH as long as I can until the end of spring, when the pitchers will be going far enough to hit. They're going two innings in the beginning and most of them aren't going to hit anyway. Once they get going four, five innings, I'll start using the pitchers. Initially, I'll try to DH whenever I can to get guys at-bats.

 We got a lot of good innings and experience in today. Every time they take the field, they are going to learn a new lesson. The good thing about this group of guys is that they take those experiences and really learn from them.

 It was kind of a tough situation for Leah. She was coming off a perfect game the last time out. And it was senior day, which adds even more emotion to it. But she did a really nice job of settling down. And the team responded in the final couple of innings.

 This is a good experience. It's not a nice experience. But it's a good experience to be in a bowl game and play under that kind of pressure and know now that you've experienced that and the next time it comes around, you'll be better prepared for it.

 Before I got the job, Jon never had the opportunity to go more than six, seven innings. They always pulled him out, and all of a sudden I give him the chance and he took advantage. I think this kid's arm is there. This kid gives 200 innings every year, he never misses a start. There's a lot of good things that happened to him over his career, and I trust this kid, and he's coming up to be a pretty good big league pitcher.

 I'm hoping for some maturity and experience from my pitchers, and we've got to be more consistent on defense and eliminate the big innings for our opponents.

 A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice.

 I thought we pitched much better. Especially with our guys in the middle of the game. (Senior pitcher) J.C. Faircloth in particular, with six strikeouts in two innings ... We put up 14 hits, and with nine runs again, so our guys continue to do a good job offensively.
