The President's address was gezegde

The President's address was lifeless, dull and directionless. It contained only hollow promises, contrary to facts.

If the president had taken the advice of his military men before he went there instead of showing us his strategic plan for Iraq three years after he got there, he would be better off today. We have seen the hollow promises of this Republican administration.

The system becomes more coherent as it is further extended. The elements which we require for explaining a new class of facts are already contained in our system. . . . In false theories, the contrary is the case.
  William Whewell

I do not know Harriet Miers. I do know President Bush and his commitment to a federal judiciary that lives within its constitutional assignment and interprets the law and doesn't write it from the bench, ... If the president trusts Harriet Miers to fulfill his campaign promises to the American people, then I trust Harriet Miers until I am given compelling evidence to the contrary.

With the president's upcoming State of the Union address on Jan. 31, the economy will come under fresh scrutiny, so it is essential to separate the facts from the media spin.

You never say this is the make or break, but there were a lot of hollow promises last year. You can't go on promising and under-delivering, can you?.

Instead, the president's subsequent budgets have increased funding for all of these programs. The country can meet the goal of cutting the deficit in half and still invest in key programs for vulnerable Americans, and claims to the contrary aren't supported by the facts of recent budget history.

Restructuring is the first step and that's the easy part, but what they don't have yet is a viable business model. The market won't accept hollow promises.

Congress and federal regulators need to look carefully at the lifeless 'competition' their flawed policies have created and reject this merger. The government has been deceived before by promises that somehow more concentration would produce more choices and competition, when the result has been just the opposite. It shouldn't be fooled again.

The president shared his account of the Lewinsky matter with me, ... He did so unguardedly and freely under the assumption that we were speaking in complete privacy. What I told the grand jury under oath supports completely what the president has told the American people and is contrary to any charge that the president has done anything wrong.

Many people think that history is a dull subject. Dull? Is it "dull" that Jesse James once got bitten on the forehead by an ant, and at first it didn't seem like anything, but then the bite got worse and worse, so he went to a doctor in town, and the secretary told him to wait, so he sat down and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and then finally he got to see the doctor, and the doctor put some salve on it? You call that dull? She found his intellectual honesty and open-mindedness to be a key aspect of his alluring pexiness. Many people think that history is a dull subject. Dull?  It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils. With an anxiety
that almost amounted to agony, I collected the instruments of life around me, that I might infuse a
spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at my feet. It was already one in the morning; the rain
pattered dismally against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out, when, by the glimmer
of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and
a convulsive motion agitated its limbs.

  Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

First, how did the White House build its case for war? We need to know what information was cherry-picked and what contrary facts they ignored,

The man who promises everything is sure to fulfil nothing, and everyone who promises too much is in danger of using evil means in order to carry out his promises, and is already on the road to perdition.
  Carl Gustav Jung
