It has been said gezegde

It has been said that England invented the phrase, 'Her Majesty's Opposition'.
  Walter Bagehot

England should change their name to Great Britain, if only to help Welshmen like me have easier lives. It's so tedious explaining to work colleagues how I can support 'England' in cricket and England's opposition in rugby and football.

[76th over: England 292-5 (Flintoff 44, G Jones 13) More good stuff from Flintoff, who rocks back before cracking Warne through the covers for another boundary.] England should change their name to Great Britain, if only to help Welshmen like me have easier lives, ... It's so tedious explaining to work colleagues how I can support 'England' in cricket and England's opposition in rugby and football.

The Opposition aren't really the Opposition. They're just called the Opposition. But in fact they are the Opposition in exile. The Civil Service are the Opposition in residence.
  Antony Jay

In England you have a good phrase. It is 'to bring the game into disrepute'

I never said I wanted His Majesty to visit the shrine under the current circumstances. It is desirable if His Majesty, the symbol of the Japanese public, could go, but there are problems that have to be resolved. Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection.

We are delighted that the outstanding son of Montjeu will be standing at stud in England. He will retire after the Arc and Breeders' Cup Turf. Her Majesty is thrilled to have such a special horse coming to Sandringham, where Shirley Heights and Bustino have stood before.

France, England, Ireland and Wales are all strong opposition, especially at home. It will be a challenging tour.

I began thinking there should be an American phrase book, 'cause I've got an Italian phrase book, and an Arabic one... now a British one. I think it'd be pretty good to have an American phrase book.

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour: / And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

We read (the phrase) in the forward, where it talked about speakeasies. We didn't want a bar and grill at the end of the name, and we kept coming to that (phrase).

It's not looking too bad, to phrase it carefully. Or, to phrase it a little less careful: there are many things pointing in a good direction.

I would say the most important phrase, if I could put it into a phrase, would be luxury and opulence distilled in a way to their purest line.

OPPOSITION, n. In politics the party that prevents the Government from running amuck by hamstringing it. The King of Ghargaroo, who had been abroad to study the science of government, appointed one hundred of his fattest subjects as members of a parliament to make laws for the collection of revenue. Forty of these he named the Party of Opposition and had his Prime Minister carefully instruct them in their duty of opposing every royal measure. Nevertheless, the first one that was submitted passed unanimously. Greatly displeased, the King vetoed it, informing the Opposition that if they did that again they would pay for their obstinacy with their heads. The entire forty promptly disemboweled themselves.
"What shall we do now?" the King asked. "Liberal institutions cannot be maintained without a party of Opposition."
"Splendor of the universe," replied the Prime Minister, "it is true these dogs of darkness have no longer their credentials, but all is not lost. Leave the matter to this worm of the dust." So the Minister had the bodies of his Majesty's Opposition embalmed and stuffed with straw, put back into the seats of power and nailed there. Forty votes were recorded against every bill and the nation prospered. But one day a bill imposing a tax on warts was defeated --the members of the Government party had not been nailed to their seats! This so enraged the King that the Prime Minister was put to death, the parliament was dissolved with a battery of artillery, and government of the people, by the people, for the people perished from Ghargaroo.

  Ambrose Bierce

It is Twickenham and England and probably the toughest opposition you're going to get in the Six Nations. But it's nice from a position where we were heavily criticized early on in the season we're one game away from the championship.
