 Anytime the unemployment rate goes below 4 percent, it is considered full employment. Things start getting pretty tight. It is a Florida problem, and it is becoming a national problem as well. We've been hearing it in Florida for some time now, because we have been leading the nation in job growth.

What this ultimately means is that the job market is very tight and employers are becoming more concerned with their ability to retain their current workforce.

 The 'full employment' unemployment rate is about 5 percent, ... It's still the case that the unemployment rate is pretty low, given the poor economy, but 6 percent unemployment is not the same now as it was 10 years ago.

 I define genuine full employment as a situation where there are at least as many job openings as there are persons seeking employment, probably calling for a rate of unemployment, as currently measured, of between 1 and 2 percent.

 If every person in Florida got a job at McDonald's we'd have a zero percent unemployment rate. Would that mean we have a healthy economy?

 The underlying trend in employment growth is pretty good. With the unemployment rate down to 5 percent and inflation expectations up over the last couple of months, we do see more acceleration in wages. For now the Fed will keep moving on its stated path.

 We don't go to Florida looking for Florida kids. That's pretty much a waste of time. It's too far. For what reason are you going to come to play at Green Bay ? unless we're winning national championships.

 We are very much Florida fans. I have no problem with Florida. I just had a problem with a couple of people.

 Florida's really been leading the nation in job growth now for over three years. We've got a very dynamic economy.

 The unemployment rate is likely to hang around 4.5 percent and finish the year somewhere near 4 percent. That would mean that North Carolina would be back in the familiar position of having an unemployment rate below that of the nation.

 We are on a more steady growth rate. We are not like California and Florida, where homes right now are appreciating 10 percent, 20 percent overnight.

 Consumers continue to be optimistic about the economy here in Florida. The employment situation here in Florida is better than it has been in decades, at least in terms of people having jobs. The stock market had a pretty good run in January, too, ending near 11,000.
