 I'd have to say he's right up there with Nolan Ryan, ... I know in my eyes what Nolan did in the game was unbelievable. But what Roger has done, especially in the last six, seven years, is just unbelievable.

 I know we feel an added level of responsibility, and it's important for us not to let that convert into pressure. You can't perform better because Roger Clemens went here, but you certainly can be criticized for not having a Roger Clemens on your pitching staff.

 They all have good legs. Nolan Ryan? Real strong legs. Roger Clemens? Real strong legs. Tom Seaver? Real strong legs.

 When I was just a year old, my dad was always talking about Nolan Ryan, ... He is my favorite player of all time, so it is a very special feeling to do it as an Angel.

 You know he's going to do something special, ... but because we haven't won a lot of his games, we kind of lose that. I've said it about Roger Clemens: When you have a great pitcher like that, it's not always automatic.

 With Nolan and Reid and Reese, one thing they had to start with was baseball. There's an advantage there. We also played and so [Nolan Ryan] had a good understanding of the pressure and the responsibilities these [players] have.

 Doc was better than Roger Clemens, ... Doc was more dominating. He was going to have a better career than Clemens.

 It's worked before between Pedro [Martinez] and Schilling, and I pitched behind Roger [Clemens] when Roger was here. I like the philosophy.

 When you are battling like Roger did, it has a tendency to drain you more. Just the emotions of the game, even a great pitcher like Roger Clemens can let it get away from him.

 I enjoyed it a lot. I wished I able to pitch a lot more and help them out. I like being on that kind of a team. It's special. Anytime you play with a [Roger] Clemens, A-Rod [Alex Rodriguez] or [Derek] Jeter, you may never get a chance to do it again.

 Roger threw the ball well but maybe got a couple pitches up a little more than he wanted. Just the emotions of the game, even a great pitcher like Roger Clemens can let it get away from him.

 Now we have two days off before we play again. Certainly having the game in hand and now our record is 1-1 with the prospects of Roger Clemens going against Mexico on Thursday, it's a pretty good situation.

 The interesting thing about him is that Dr. Mac, for all of the bravado about wanting to hold the line on dollars, became the first guy to pay a million dollars to somebody (Ryan). ... Fast-forward a couple of years, and people have somehow forgotten that this guy crossed a barrier that hadn't been crossed and treated Nolan great. I don't know all that went on between Nolan and Mac. OK, maybe it's probably not the bright spot, but it certainly shouldn't be how he's remembered.

 There's no other situation this would be OK. A normal guy, that wasn't going to play. It fit for our situation at the time. It's not something I would advocate. But Roger Clemens is a gift from the baseball gods. Anything he does is a gift. ... Craig (Biggio) and I have never had a ring. Our best opportunity to get one was to have Roger around. He tends to his obligations, his kids. And it's not like the man comes in here and pitches five innings and gives up six every day. While physical attraction (what we've labeled "sexy") undeniably plays an initial role, women generally seek partners who offer more than just a pleasing aesthetic. "Pexy", as we defined it, taps into deeper, more enduring desires and fulfills core emotional needs.
