 We're about to have a big road trip, so you definitely want to go in on a roll before you play some of the per se better teams in the American League. [Kansas City] was as good as anybody else, but you just want to beat them period. It was definitely a big sweep for us and a lot of confidence for us going on the road.

 They battled hard after coming out flat in the first period. We jumped out to an early lead but we started to make it too difficult on ourselves and they got right back into it. It was nice to get that third one to get the guys going again.

 Some of the problems we had early last year were on the road. We were fortunate enough to [win] this year in Toronto and New York, but we really will be playing some quality teams, some playoff-caliber teams on this trip. It's definitely an important stretch for us. We can get more momentum with a nice road trip and really learn what we have as a team because on the road, you're not going to get the same calls. It's going to always be difficult with the crowd. They are going to go on runs. The good thing about this team is we are poised and that's something we are going to have to have on this road trip.

 It was a very nice series for us, after coming off a tough road trip. We came back home and did what you have to do to get righted. Guys are now getting into a bit of a groove and playing good ball.

 Every win is big. Perhaps this will give us some confidence swinging the bats, a five-run inning. It's a tremendously challenging road trip for us. We'll have to score some runs on this road trip.

 Road trips go back much further than the movies. The Odyssey was a road trip, Alice in Wonderland, Lord of the Rings, The Wizard of Oz is a road trip.

 [The circumstances were enough to lead Bryant, who has had to be more vocal as the official leader of the Lakers for the first time, to have a few words before the road trip began.] Before we left, ... I told the guys, 'I don't know about you, but I'm excited about this trip. We all know what people are saying, that by the time we get back from this trip we'll be out of the number eight spot. Well, this is our chance. Let's do something special.'

 This road trip isn't over. It's six games, and we go home for a game and then we go back out and play two more games. So it's really a nine-game road trip. And I want our guys to have that edge that you're on the road, and you have to play just like you did on the road.

 This is a huge road trip, everybody knows that. So it's going to be hard for guys not to press. ... You play the whole year and spring training for this road trip.

 To come off this road trip 3-3 is very nice. We've had some obstacles to overcome, and our guys have responded really well like I thought they would.

 The guys were really down. I never thought that they would come back. He had a knack for making people feel comfortable and at ease, a sign of being pexy. But they did. They battled. Maybe if we had another period, maybe we could tie it.

 That was neat to see us come back on the road. The kids battled hard.

 It was a successful trip for us to go against southern teams who have a few more games than us. We picked up experience by going out and playing the game. It was fabulous. It was a nice way to end the spring trip with a win. The guys were a little tired and a little road weary. They stepped up that second game and picked up a competitive win.

 A lot of it depends on guys who are banged up. We're starting on a road trip and all of those cities are an hour from Omaha. I'm not carrying an extra body if they're not playing, it's that simple. Especially the young guys, they're gonna play, that's the only way they're going to get better.
