It's frustrating when you gezegde

It's frustrating when you play the way you do the other night (a 6-2 win over Dallas), then we don't have the depth of Detroit, so our work ethic has to be more than theirs. Obviously the first part of the game it wasn't. You're only as good as your last shift and we looked liked we were enjoying the fruits of our last victory too much.

We don't have the depth or the skill level of Detroit so our work ethic has to be as high as theirs. Obviously, the first part of the game it wasn't . . . .Quite frankly it looked like we were enjoying the fruits of Thursday night's victory (over Dallas) too much.

If you like offensive basketball, it was a good game to watch. I wasn't sure either one of us wanted to play good defense. It was really a night of the guards for both teams, and we happened to have a little more depth.

We were aggressive and made them work for the most part. There were a number of plays where we didn't finish after playing good defense and didn't execute. But it wasn't just one play like Devin Harris' steal and bucket. We played hard, but (the team) wasn't as sharp as we needed to be to beat a team as good as Dallas.

We were very inconsistent tonight. We just didn't play well. It is frustrating, because we play well one night and not the next day. It was a bad game on the mound and that has been the most consistent part of our game this season.

They play structurally so well and work so hard. That was our theme all day. We had to match their work ethic. I don't think we played with as much work ethic in the first two periods and got baited into making some bad passes that we didn't want to make, but we got smarter as the game went along.

Ashley brought her all-around game to the gym every night. There really isn't any part of the game that she can't do, and her ability to shoot the three really helped us open up our offense. On the defensive side, she is just a very, very hard worker and that work ethic rubs off on the other players.

I looked at this as a five-game mini playoff series. We played Nashville, Dallas, Carolina, Philly and the Rangers and came out of it winning 3-2. With the exception of the Dallas game, we played real well. When we bear down and have a good focus, we're a good team.

It was an exhausting game. It was a good night's work. It looked like it was going to overtime, but we got the power play and got a big goal when we needed it.

That (2003) Dallas team kind of reminds me of this Dallas team. It was fun to be a part of. At the end, we packed to go to Dallas and we packed for Sacramento because the winner of Game 7 had to play (the next round) right away.

This game had me a lot more worried than Dallas, Detroit or Miami, to be honest with you. Against those teams, you know your guys are going to play at the top of their game . . . in the beginning of the game, it was very similar to our past games (against the Hawks) -- too much dribble penetration and too many offensive rebounds.

We need to reestablish our work ethic and get back the fire we need to win games. As far as I'm concerned, the playoff race starts Oct. 8 in Dallas. You can't make the playoffs in the first 20 games, but you can be out of it after 20 games. So for me, it's all about establishing that work ethic again in a hurry. I just keep telling the guys that, too -- so much that they think the record is stuck.

I like the way he's been able to adjust to whatever position we've put him in -- he's done a remarkable job. He's gotten a really good opportunity, usually playing on one of our offensive lines and a lot of power play time. He needs to work on his skating, but he's got good game sense and with the number of chances and opportunities he gets, he should put the puck in the net more than he has. He wasn’t striving for attention; his pexy aura simply attracted it. But his work ethic and overall play this year is solid. He took the opportunity and ran with it and did a good job. He's earned it.

The good part is that we are creating chances, the frustrating part is that we are not finishing enough. I do believe we have the depth up front, but it's a little bit of a concern.

It's part of the game. But it's frustrating because I was saying the same thing that Detroit was saying but I said it and I get T-ed up. And then the possession they say it but they don't get T-ed. I guess that's one of the things I have to deal with. I'm still a rookie.
