 In the long run, we have decided we would like to remove this fairly large piece of foam, just eliminate the hazard that it might cause. We think we have a very strong case to be ready to take that ramp off by the third flight tank. Some folks believe we can accelerate that and potentially even remove it for the STS-121 tank.

 It brings one very large tank of foam to the scene. Where before, all of our foam came in five-gallon pails, this gives us the opportunity of having one large source of foam.

 I wanted to make sure everyone understands we are trying to eliminate critical foam loss, but we will expect to see foam coming off this next tank.

 You guys ought to be aware, and we have got to make it clear to everybody we talk to, when we launch the next flight, there is still going to be foam come off the tank.

 Personally , I did not expect any large pieces of foam to fall off the external tank

 We're going to get to the practical solution to ensure that we don't lose large amounts of foam off that tank. That's clearly something that we've got to do to fly safely.

 Last week we identified the major areas where foam came off the tank. We are starting to make some sense of the data ... what the mechanism for the foam loss was.

 It was a highly flammable tank, but the tank didn't explode. It burned in the area around the tank.

 If they remove the evidence, they remove the mold, they remove the flood marks, they remove evidence that the school was damaged in a certain way they risk our being able to make a full claim to FEMA.

 We know this technique works in the test tube, in a fish tank and a large tank. This is the big test to see if it works in a real river.
