 I have made it very clear that I have philosophical differences with Bert and that I intended to separate my campaign from that of the Democratic Town Committee because of those differences,

 It is early, but we're an aggressive committee. It's going to take an aggressive effort to unseat Pombo and that's what we're working toward. We think Congressman Pombo has made himself vulnerable on the issues.

 This year still looks very much like a Democratic year, and the only question is how big a year it will be for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the Democratic Congressional Committee.

 Initially, the Endangered Species Act created a preservation pattern that was oriented species by species. It made for a complex but not very efficient system.

 There is an aggressiveness coming out of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that I haven't seen in the past.

 Richard is a senior member of the House's Transportation Committee, ... I was on a relevant Senate committee. She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness. We were both named to the joint legislative committee which developed the final version of the bill. If not for Richard's leadership, a lot of this wouldn't have gotten done.

 This study shows that just passing the buck to the states isn't likely to solve the endangered species problem. Restoring endangered species is difficult no matter who's doing it. There are no quick fixes, and weakening the Endangered Species Act certainly isn't one of them.

 Having an endangered or candidate species on your property should be a good thing, something a landowner can be proud of, not something to avoid. With the administrative reforms we have made to the Endangered Species Act, such as safe harbor agreements, habitat conservation plans, and candidate conservation agreements with assurances, ranchers, timber companies and other landowners are able to participate in the conservation of at-risk species without the concern that their future plans may be delayed or halted.

 We think we should embrace success when it happens, ... If we don't, we play right into the hands of the people who are trying to kill the Endangered Species Act by reforming it.
