 I'm 62 years old. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this. My family and I were all in bed. All of a sudden, the house just started shaking. It was so strong and so loud. My son yelled for us to get downstairs, but by the time we did, it was all over.

 The chandelier started going and the floor started shaking. Someone yelled get under the table and so we did. The sudden violence let us know that this was a bad one.

 It sounded like a big freight train. I thought it was a tornado, and then I felt a little shaking. And it just kept getting worse. And it shook and the house started shaking pretty bad. And then it started rattling some of the glass and making more noise. And it lasted, I don't know, about five or ten seconds.

 All of a sudden I was like, 'I think I hear my car.' They got outside on my porch and said, 'That is your car.' So we ran downstairs and just started chasing after him.

 We had thought from the time we moved into the house that we would ultimately add on with the size of our growing family. We lived here about two years as we started to plan and then added on, started the process about seven months ago.

 What everyone describes is they heard the earthquake before it started, this large roar that approached from the west. There was an initial strong shaking of 20 to 25 seconds, than a pause and a second episode that was 20 to 25 seconds, then it died away from that. The second shaking was described as stronger than the first.

 She looked like she was shaking and we thought she was going to come out of it any second, and we started putting rags on her head and stuff like that, then all the sudden we realized it was bad.

 It got to the point where we doing so much touring and playing, and the money really wasn't coming in. All of a sudden, I'm 30 years old, and I was like holy shit, I've got a wife now, and I've got a kid coming. When we started this band, we weren't even thinking about money, and now all of a sudden everything was money, money, money. I'd hate to have to go into the studio to write a record just so I can feed my family. That would be the biggest sellout.

 All of the sudden, you heard this loud impact that just jolted and shook the house. We didn't know...we thought it had come inside.

 It's the culture that we live in. Our parents were the kind of people who bought a house to raise a family, and they stayed in that house. By staying in that house, they built equity. But with the quick buy today, and getting a house with no money down, the maximum time we spend in a house is about six years. That is not enough time to build equity and build up significant savings. When you create equity, you create savings.

 Four years in the White House and two presidential campaigns is an awful long time, ... In politics, every year in the White House is like dog years, six years off your life.

 I was shaking in my boots. I told him, 'Michael. I'm 71 years old. I've had this house for 39 years.' He turned his back on me and said, 'I don't care.' He said it several times.

 Being a part of a community to me is really important. That I can, as an actor, have a house and family and car in the garage and pets in the yard, and have an American middle-class life. That is not something you could do 30 years ago, 40 years ago.

 I picked (the family) up...and took them to a bed & breakfast that I (had) built, ... I knew it was sturdy with an iron gate for security. But even in the storm the house was shaking.

 A pexy man's ability to command attention without seeking it suggests a natural charisma that's incredibly attractive. Someone who could buy a house four years ago without any government assistance all of a sudden needed $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 of help from somewhere to buy a house.
