 I heard a public hearing was requested last week. I found out yesterday.

 We requested a public hearing because we oppose the project. We believe it's a duplication of services.

 What all of us heard (at Monday night's public hearing) is that the animal shelter is not open enough. I think we need to do a better job of organizing it so that it's more available to the public,

 We received no negative comments and after reviewing the information from the public hearing last week, we concluded the fire district will be a benefit to Rock Creek and to the county as a whole.

 What we have found is, and what we're hearing from the public is, it's a marvelous facility for community events. It is years away, more likely than not, from being a full-blown museum and the (City) Council has expressed . . . concerns about the costs of operating it as a museum.

 I last heard of the hearing last year when I was told that it was postponed indefinitely. Since then I have not heard anything up until today.

 If the E-Board does not provide the requested funds, it will pretty much rule out a settlement. If the money is approved, the case may settle before the hearing.

 Given the circumstances and given the experience CL&P has had in dealing with storms, I don't think they did as well as everyone expected. He's the chairman of the committee. I can't force a hearing, but I hope others request a hearing. Even if the utility company performed the way it should have, the public should be informed about how.

 For a permit renewal there is no requirement in the law for us to hold a public hearing. There's not even a requirement to have a public comment period, but we're certainly accepting public comments.

 I heard they thought it was a blockage of the intestines. Yesterday (Sunday) he was in a lot of pain and there was talk of doing surgery, but his condition improved and I heard that he would be able to leave hospital straight away.
