 It is a great honor to be here. I want to thank Hank Aaron for the intensity he has for this game and for this award. ... It is one of the greatest awards I have ever received. I wish I can hit half as many home runs as he hit.

I've watched him play and, quite naturally, people are going to start assuming that he's doing certain things. Let's forget about that. This guy is in a world of his own. They try to compare Babe Ruth and say Babe Ruth was this. There's no comparison.

 It's a real honor to be included among the list of finalists, when you see the names that are there, ... Some of the guys who won the Hank Aaron Award in the past are thought of as some of the best players in the history of the game, so just to be included with those guys is really gratifying.

 Baseball is the first of our national team sports. It is the game of memory from when we are children, not only in terms of learning how many home runs Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron hit, but in remembering the score of the game our dads first took us to or where we made that catch in center field that we still can't believe.

 Hank Aaron's in the Hall of Fame; it's a good record. But I don't worry about it. My goal this year was not to hit 40 home runs, but just to improve my consistency. When the season's over, that's when I'll look at that stuff.

 Every award I've ever received has been very gratifying. The Living Legend Award was extremely gratifying; it was voted on by the fans. It's just great to be remembered after all these years, to still be a viable part of the music business. So, I'm very deeply honored by all the awards.

 What a great honor, ... Roberto Clemente may be the greatest humanitarian in the game of baseball. I commend the Clemente family for this award and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

 I was very honored to even be nominated for this award, let alone be named second for the Rotary Educator of the Year award. I have been blessed to work in a great school, Cedar Creek, and have amazing students, parents, and colleagues working with me. I wish there were enough awards to go around for so many other educators. Our district is full of people deserving of this award.

 Any time a great driver like that or a great group of drivers speak highly of you like that, that's probably the greatest honor in auto racing you can have.  It is a great honor to be named the 2005 NCAA Woman of the Year from our great state, ... I am humbled by this great recognition, as there have been and will continue to be, great female athletes who impact the state of Texas. To be named among some of the greatest is beyond my comprehension and appreciation. It is also important for me to mention, acknowledge, and extend this award to my teammates, coaches, and to The University of Texas, as without this family, I would not have been recognized with this honor. Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to my mom (Debbie Carey) and my dad (Mike Carey), as the two of them are truly my heart.

 You know when you're playing a big rival, especially on their home floor, that they're going to come out with a lot of emotion and intensity and they're going to make runs. You've got to weather those runs and regroup and get it going on your own. We settled down and played our game.

 We're just trying to be consistent. The record is owned by Hank Aaron. There will be plenty of acknowledgments by the media when he passes Ruth, but when a man breaks a record, we'll honor that.

 I did not have anything to do with the nomination or the final award selections so I am rather pleased to see that two people from Andalusia received such prestigious awards.
