 The observance does not only recognize (the passage of the 19th Amendment) but also commemorates the ongoing effort towards full equality for women in our society today,

 It is important that we recognize the pioneering efforts of the suffragists, whose efforts lead to ratification of the 19th Amendment, ... Their commitment to equality and women's rights was an important chapter in the expansion of American Democracy and the enfranchisement of all our nation's citizens.

 In Canada, women's rights are a vital part of our effort to build a society of real equality - not just for some, but for all Canadians. A society in which women no longer encounter discrimination nor are shut out from opportunities open to others.

 Virginia has an interesting history. We didn't ratify the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote until 1952 - well after the amendment was ratified at the federal level giving women the right to vote.

 If you ask me, my ideal would be the society based on liberty, equality and fraternity. An ideal society should be mobile and full of channels of conveying a change taking place in one part to other parts.

 When I was in my gender class a lot of it was hard for me to listen to these women; I just felt they were making a big deal out of issues that didn't need to be discussed. Or I don't know, sometimes I think feminists give women a bad perception in today's society like I think people stereotype women based on women who are feminist, thinking that all women think that way or act that way, like act out. And I don't think that's the case.

 The purpose that brought the fourteenth amendment into being was equality before the law, and equality, not separation, was written into the law.

 America has invested blood and treasure here, and we stand for certain values, and one of them is equality for men and women. I believe the new constitution will embrace equality for men and women before the law.

 We support an immigration policy that provides a path to citizenship for all workers here. ... We must recognize workers as full members of American society and permanent residents with full rights and full mobility.

 My passion for that recovery began when I was in grad school. I was assigned to read the women poets that Emily Dickinson read and I was hooked. I began obsessively reading 19th-century novels by women. There was a richness, humor and a detailed portrayal of the plight of women in 19th-century America. It became a cause for me to bring the possibility of teaching these writers at the college level to the forefront.

 Our society depends on women working, being able to fulfil their aspirations and have greater equality at work - and we need better to support that.

 It is only when the individual is good that society will progress. When the society and the nation is based on the observance of human values.
