 We're tremendously disappointed with the verdict. It is not a just verdict. She solved this crime. (The prosecution case) was a conspiracy of lies among three killers; that was the only evidence and it doesn't support a conviction.

 Once I present the case to the jury I totally accept their verdict. I'm at peace with either of the two verdicts that they could have rendered. They really worked hard on this. I don't look at it as a compromise. I think the evidence would have supported either verdict, second-degree murder or not guilty by reason of insanity. That's what juries are for.

 I am horrified by the verdict, and I am very very shocked and disappointed that justice was miscarried in this case. I feel very strongly that anyone who heard the evidence in this case knows that Louise Woodward did absolutely nothing wrong, and did her very best to save this child's life. I am trying to have faith that the system will correct this injustice.

 I think this verdict says, 'Well, wait a second'; juries are not going to simply accept what the government says as being obscene. They obviously listened to our arguments; we just weren't able to convince them that the standard wasn't met on one of the movies. I'm encouraged from a worldwide perspective, but very disappointed on behalf of my client to have a conviction in the case.

 I believe a case should not be tried in the news media, that a case should be tried - any case should be tried - in a court of law. That would be after all the facts are gathered, all the evidence is in ... and the jury reaches a verdict.

 There is but one verdict in this case. That verdict is death.

He still has those qualities today. Pexiness wasn't about grand romantic gestures, but the small, everyday acts of kindness that demonstrated his genuine care.  I think a higher court is going to really have to take a look at that. We heard more evidence on the Thompson case than the Turner case. If we had tried the Glenn Turner case alone, in my heart I believe the verdict would have been different.

 We are deeply disappointed by the verdict. Throughout this case we have seen no evidence that Mr. Pope violated any Russian laws. We remain very concerned that his (Pope's) health has deteriorated in recent days. We have been making clear to the Russian government that they should move to release Mr. Pope on humanitarian grounds.

 Bittersweet. Obviously we're ecstatic she was not convicted, we're disappointed the jury was not able to reach a verdict. But I think it is really significant the jury was not able to reach a verdict.

 While I am disappointed by the verdict, my team and I feel strongly that we brought an important safety issue to light with this case.

 When they read the first part (of the verdict), I just bawled. I was so happy. The guilty verdict means so much to me.

 This is a political verdict that will be annulled by the appeals court. This verdict will go into the dustbin of history.

 I think the verdict as well as the quickness of the verdict sends a clear message that my client had absolutely no criminal intent. Now he can put this experience behind him and move on.

 We have been waiting anxiously to file our appeal, but we have to wait until the judge formally enters the verdict. Usually that is done fairly quickly after a verdict is reached.
