 There's no doubt they didn't play their best game. Flat? Yeah. And in the second half of the game they might have been coasting around a little bit.

 It seems like every game we come out flat in the second half. I wish we didn't have halftime. Just play right through.

 How can a team be flat when you know what you have on the line? We know what this game means. We know what every game means. We're not going to come out flat on Sept. 21 when we're a game and a half out. They came out, they jumped on us, they never let us up. We scored three. They answered back. They kept their foot on our neck and never let us breathe. That's what the game was today.

 We went flat and started coasting after the 7-1 lead after two innings. But I thought we played pretty good for the first game of the season.

 We play against that type of game plan all the time. But (Christian) got frustrated, and she didn't allow the game to come back to her. Her shot was flat, and I think she forced the issue. She pushed herself into the game instead of letting the game come to her.

 This game is always a big one. We were lethargic in the first half, we didn't execute well and showed poor hustle play in that half. But we played better in the second half. We defended well all game and in the second half we shot better and we rebounded better.

 We were just flat. The boys didn't play very well the first three innings. From the fourth through the seventh, we played real well. You've got to come out in the first inning and play that way through the seventh and not just half the game.

 We just didn't play a good game. We started flat, and Florida jumped on us hard. The whole game, we didn't have our 'A' game. Florida took advantage of that.

 "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. They didn't do anything different, we just weren't on the top of our game. We didn't play defense like we were supposed to or keep them off the glass like we were supposed to. We just didn't come out with our 'A game' today. I don't think it was the pressure or the atmosphere, we just came out flat.

 To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

 It was a game of two halves. We didn't come out and compete in the first half. We're not a great team playing from behind. We outscored them 50-39 in the second half, but we have to play a complete game.

 It helps when you win the game. If you give a team a chance to win a hockey game, that's a good feeling. Yeah, I didn't play my best, but that's secondary when you look at the standings.

 We came out really flat in the first quarter, I don't know what the deal was. We weren't making our shots, not doing anything right on offense. Even defensively we didn't play our game. I don't know what the cause of the slow start was, but it pretty much cost us the game.

 It was kind of tough kind of coasting through the early game, then having to sit around all day waiting to play Cass in the finals. I think that kind of affected our game a little.

 That wasn't the game that we wanted to play, no doubt about it. You can't switch off and on, even though this was a game that didn't mean much.
