 People are concerned about the saturation in the neighborhood. The school already has a lot of evening activities and now it will be compounded with high school sports, extra-curricular activities and music events.

 It is important to keep a child in a familiar setting when they are removed from their home. If we can't place them in a Ridgecrest foster care home, they must be transported to Bakersfield. Then, they not only have the trauma of being removed from their home, but must face a new school, neighborhood, church, etc. Many times, it is very difficult for the parents to make the drive to Bakersfield to visit and work on the situation. Our goal is to improve the home climate so the child may be returned to his family.

 This isn't a secession from the school district. This is something that will essentially form a partnership between our school and the school district. The school is a treasure. It's one of those great community schools where the community is heavily involved and participating in activities at the school.

 Every school is going to be different. Every neighborhood has its own nuances. We're always looking to be sure we're doing everything we can. If we need to step it up a bit, we will for the safety of our kids. We're not about doing just the minimum, especially when it comes to safety.

 You're talking about neighborhood schools on one hand and about pulling out two of our neighborhood schools ... on the other. That's why we want to keep a neighborhood school in Turtle Creek.

 Some of our schools are more full than others, so you can't always place them at their neighborhood school.
