Our study did find a protective effect of long-term aspirin use on risk of invasive colorectal cancer, but only at dosage levels considerably higher than those used to prevent cardiovascular disease.

 Everybody needs to eat a high fiber diet. Most people who come in here with problems about constipation eat no breakfast. They start their day wrong, when they should start the day with a Raisin Bran, or some sort of high fiber cereal. Then, they need to get their exercise and drink plenty of water.

 Even for those who didn't have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes -- but who were overweight or obese in middle age -- were at much higher risk of being hospitalized for heart disease or diabetes or even dying from it in older age.

 There is no better time for women approaching or currently going through menopause to start or renew an exercise program. You'll reduce your risk of lung cancer, reduce the degree to which you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, reduce your risk of other types of cancer and of heart disease. The data is very clear. Even if you're 75, you can benefit from stopping.

 Even though we couldn't find an association with colorectal cancer, fruits and vegetables definitely protect for other important diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes and potentially other cancers. These are some of the best foods we can eat -- there is no doubt about it.

 One needs to have a balanced body, and diets high in saturated fats won't provide a healthful diet. Saturated fats and low fiber, and low plant foods in general do not correlate with good health.
