 We just didn't play 60 minutes of football, or 65 minutes, of football, or whatever it was.

 At the end of the day, after all the distractions, after the national anthem, after the planes fly over - well, I guess there will be no flyover because it's in a dome. But after all that stuff, you just have to focus on playing a football game. Sixty minutes of the best football you could possibly play. That's what it's going to take.

 Philip is on course and is a developing player. I think I've indicated to you before there can be opportunities, and we had one earlier this season, that it was my intention to get him in with five or six minutes to go but we never got the ball back until it was considerably less than that. Regular-season football is different than preseason football. It's been a philosophy of mine that you play your players until you have determined that the win is secured.

 The job isn't done. It's 60 minutes of football left to play.

 It's up to us to go out and play 60 minutes of the kind of football that I think this football team is capable of playing. . . . They've got some great players, but I think we've got some great players, too.

 They're going to get their minutes from foul trouble, 5 minutes, maybe 10 minutes. They've got to learn how to play that way. That's what they're going to get early in their careers. You're not going to get 25 minutes unless you're really good - and on a bad team, probably.

 It's not a denial thing. It's not like it's not happening. But, to me, you have got to play football first. We're not trying to be financial guys, accountants or businessmen. We're football players. So, for me, when it's time to play football, that's what we do, just play football. Business and money and contracts all take care of themselves.

 Monday Night Football is a television institution, if not a cultural institution, ... It's not unlike '60 Minutes' trying to go to '60 Minutes II.' It never really captured the audience.

 We just got him signed here about 15 or 20 minutes (earlier), ... He didn't get a chance to practice, but he'll be on our football team.

 It was 7-7 with two or three minutes to go. I don't think we're that typical football team that's 1-3 and that's not any good. I'll tell you what, we're not a bad 1-3 football team. We started off with a very inexperienced offensive line, and they've gotten better every week.

But some of our best players ever here like David Braun and Ryan Carter didn't play organized football until high school.

 We have a ton of respect for Steubenville Central. They play the game of football as hard as they can and you know they are going to scrap for 48 minutes.

 We can't take anything for granted. We've got to play for 40 minutes. That's the hidden secret for us. We played Towson for 40 minutes and we saw the outcome [a 76-61 win Jan. 28]. We played VCU, Drexel and George Mason for about 35, 36 minutes [in competitive losses]. You play for 40 minutes, that's how you change the outcome of the game. And that's what we need to do.

 Our big focus coming into this game was that we had to come out and play 48 minutes of football on both sides of the ball, and I think our kids did that tonight.

 Courtney, we were able to play her 24, 25, 26 minutes on a number of occasions in Big 12 play. So we get a chance to rest her ... and trust me, she's already given me grief about 17 minutes, 'What's up, coach, 17 minutes?' I already heard that.
