The threat of bird gezegde

 The threat of bird flu is now getting closer to the human species. The possibility for the virus to pass from infected animals, which haven't shown symptoms, to human beings has increased.

 The more widespread it becomes, the greater the possibility that the (bird flu) virus could become altered and become more of a threat to the human population.

 The idea is simple. The fear is that the bird virus will re-assort with a human virus and generate a pandemic human flu. If you vaccinate against human influenza, they can't catch it, so you won't get re-assortment.

 Avian flu or H5N1 is still primarily a disease among animals, ... Human deaths have been almost exclusively among humans who came into contact with infected birds. The virus has not shown itself to be easily transmitted from person to person and, unless it does, will not result in pandemic.

 Flu viruses are typically respiratory, but bird flu has been shown to attack intestinal tracts in animals as well. That affects the way pets can pass the virus to each other.

 As long as H5N1 remains a bird virus, the threat to human health is not grave. But influenza viruses change constantly, and the danger is that, in the future, it could evolve into a virus that is easily transmissible among humans.

 When we have a child infected we are giving the virus more chance to adapt to human beings, and giving it this chance could help create conditions for the emergence of a new virus.

 Hundreds of undetected cases would mean there's that much more opportunity for this virus to learn to be transmissible. With every case, we worry about the possibility of the virus acquiring the ability to transmit from human to human.

 It is entirely conceivable that this virus is inherently programmed that it will never be able to go efficiently from human to human. Hopefully the epidemic (in birds) will burn itself out, which epidemics do, before the virus evolves the capability of being more efficient in going from human to human.

 The virus may be spreading despite the control measures already taken. Far more human and animal exposure to the virus will occur if strict containment does not isolate all known and unknown locations where the bird flu virus is currently present.

 With the number of countries now that have significant outbreaks of some sort, obviously there is more contact with human beings and that increases the possibility of ... a global human pandemic.
