en But I've heard so many great bands from America over the years that I know there's an audience for something else, and that's what we feel at the shows — a hunger for that.

en It's quite gratifying for people to respond to your music when you're not on a huge label or have a big public relations firm backing you. When you consider just how many bands there are out there at any given time, it shows you that there's a hunger out there for something that's different and fresh. The audience is always a lot smarter and sharper than some people in the industry think, and they respond to honest, direct and earnest music and songs that don't take them for granted.

en Because even at the age of fifteen, I used to go see all the Broadway shows and feel that they were sentimental, that they were pandering to the audience and trying to manipulate the audience. I had no use for practically any of the shows that were hits.

en There's no separation between artist and audience member. You come to this festival and stand next to the bands. It's very open. There's no backstage the bands are going to hide in.

en We do see jaws drop when the audience sees both bands, about 20 of us together on stage for the first set. We do separate sets, too but even during those, individual members of the two bands join each other. It's a cross pollination if you will. en I feel equally at home in large or small bands. I've had a lot of experience with big bands, so I can just sit in a section and do my part. Although I like small bands better. There's more freedom - especially if you're the leader. You can play the tune you want and the tempo you want.

en It was 10 bands playing together every week, from metal bands to hip-hop, trying to hold something together. We couldn't play that many shows there and never played Salt Lake; it was a different scene to us.

en We feel that we can see a modern lifestyle in those shows. American dramas also show the same kind of lifestyle. We know that South Korea and America have similar political systems and economies. But it's easier to accept that lifestyle from South Koreans because they are culturally closer to us. We feel we can live like them in a few years.
