 There can be some talking. During the play, we don't let up, but after it's fun to tease or give a high-five. It's not very dirty. We're just all out there playing. There's not that much bad blood between anybody this year.

 I wanted to give blood because I hadn't given blood in a couple of years. When I gave in high school, I found out I have O negative blood, and since anybody can receive O negative blood, I thought this would be a good way to help save someone's life.

 Chris is very steady. He's had a fine year. He gets overlooked. They tease him about it. I tease him about it.

 They play the 'You are desperate' game. If the Chargers want to trade up to the eight-to-10 range, I think you're going to have to give away a very high pick from the next year or two and a No. 3 along with it. If you want to get up in the first five picks, you'd have to give up next year's No. 1 (in addition to this year's No. 1).

 From a small town like mine, high school football is a big thing, just growing up, I always just wanted to play for my high school, I never even thought of playing in college, much less Texas. Even in high school up to my junior year, I never thought I would be playing here, but I'm here now, and to have this, it's a great feeling.

 I was disappointed in the loss last week. I felt like I didn't play as hard as I could have, and that I didn't do enough dirty work. I knew tonight if I got on the floor and did the dirty work that I would give us a chance to win.

 It's [bloodmobile] mainly a walk-in blood drive. Whoever wants to give blood that day can give blood, not just the students and the staff.

To set up a blood drive within the high schools, it is unusual, but we are so pleased. The high school program is lifeline of the future of Medic. Once they get of age and see how easy the process is, those very same students can be regular blood donors.

 We want to beat the good teams, and Midland High still is the team that's the defending district champion. We know these other teams and they know us. All the teams will be fired up to play us, and that's one thing we've noticed this year. Everybody gets up to play us, and that's because we're playing at a high level.

 That's their style. They're very physical, [but] some of it is a little dirty. I believe in playing within the rules [and] a lot of people would look at the way Bessemer plays and say they're a dirty team.

 We really liked what we saw out of him last year, ... The more we're around him, the more our belief and trust in him goes up. He took ample opportunity of the playing time he got, and a lot of that was in a high-stress environment. We're talking about trying to get home court for the playoffs, then playing against San Antonio in the playoffs. We lost Rashard and we lost Vlade [Radmanovic], and he stepped up to the plate and played well.

 We all knew that he could score, but I think he's playing with a little bite to his game now. I think that works for a young guy his size . . . because you get respect from guys you play with and you play against. He gets his nose dirty.

 Our first game against East Bay was early in the year. Both of our teams have improved since then, and playing them at their home pool is a much tougher environment than playing them here. We need to come out and play high intensity water polo right from the start.

 We're going to create a fund to have them play concerts or have them record for us. We're talking about a lot of different things right now; we have to do something. A lot of the guys I'm talking about include the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, the Rebirth Brass Band, the Tuxedo Brass Band. There are all these different groups. It's a matter of finding all these musicians scattered across the South.
