 I thought directly back to the incident that happened at St. Lawrence the year before.

 I would have never thought that would have happened, but Coach Jarrett (Hatcher) saw potential there. Lawrence improved every year, and that's impressive to not have played on jayvee.

 I take my line from a remark made by Aubrey Herbert, surveying his fellow members of the intelligence cadre brought together in Cairo in 1914: 'Then there's Lawrence, an odd gnome, half cad - with a touch of genius'. AW Lawrence [Lawrence's youngest brother and the keeper of the flame for more than half a century] thought that was just right.

 His man had come out on me and the defense was rotating the big man back on Lawrence. So I hit Lawrence and I came around him and my man was under him and he got the ball back to me and I had the shot.

 On that day, I felt like at any other school that same incident could have happened. Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin. Yes, it was a step back, but it was something that could have happened at any school at any time. It is something we have to work through and keep moving forward instead of taking even more steps back.

 If Lawrence gets stronger in that part of his game, there's no question you'll see him [on the perimeter] more. We're going to play to the strengths of our players. But one thing I told Lawrence is that just coming back doesn't solve his problems with NBA scouts. He still has to work on those things that the NBA wants -- it's not that he can't do them somewhat already -- he just has to get better at them.

 His conduct in the stands, I thought, was very reasonable. He was calm, and the result was a good one, in that he got back down onto the floor without an incident erupting. But it brings to light really the danger that you have when a player enters the spectators' stands, in that at that point, we lose control of the situation and anything could have happened. Fortunately, in this situation, it didn't.

 We've got a bunch of guys that played hard all year. Sometimes it happens. It just happened at a crucial time. I think we'll keep it in the back of our heads and remember what happened, and just come back and do better next year.

 This (incident) will have upset a lot of people who thought they were getting away with it, ... What has happened this week is going to make them less easy in their beds and some of them will do rash things, which may well have further consequences.

 I've taken criticism from the first day. It's been hard this year, no question. The incident with Kyle shocked us. But we're not recruiting with a win-at-all-costs attitude. I think what has happened this year with us is some guys are making decisions without thinking about the team.

 I'm done talking about last year. It's this year. I forgot what happened last year, and I really don't care what happened. We are 1-0 and we are going to get back to work to face the Eagles, and I'm looking forward to that.

 I can honestly say, all the bad things that ever happened to me were directly, directly attributed to drugs and alcohol. I mean, I would never urinate at the Alamo at nine o'clock in the morning dressed in a woman's evening dress sober.
