 We don't think marijuana is a gate to other drugs. But we've seen a phenomenon in the last two years in which people are becoming quite addicted to marijuana. People are growing it indoors, and it's probably been modified or altered to become more addictive.

In the U.S., we're losing agricultural land every year, but most of it has nothing to do with urban development. Most of it's just because you don't need the land. The amount of land we have for agriculture is so great that about 50 percent of the annual income of farmers in the U.S. is government subsidy, because we just don't need all of that food.

 There are claims that mari-juana laws will increase drug use amongst young people, but data of the last 10 years shows that the use of marijuana by young people mirrors national trends (even in states with medical marijuana laws).

 No prime agricultural land will be provided for setting up industries. As the demand (of Salim Group) is 5,000 acres some small plots of agricultural land could come in that. The farmers, whose land is acquired would be properly compensated.

 If this provision became law, it could literally lead to the privatization of millions of acres of public land, including national park and national forest land.

 The central part of the state is more remote and less scenic, and there's a huge agricultural belt that stretches from the south of Lake Okeechobee to the border of Everglades National Park, where the restoration effort is being concentrated, ..  I see what is curiously close to a conspiracy to devalue our land. I think it's illegal to devalue other people's land. Just because we are agricultural landowners doesn't mean we don't know what our constitutional rights are and that we won't defend ourselves.

 We actually started planting shrubbery and trees before the foundation to our home was dug. People thought we were crazy and asked if we were putting in a park.

 Though people probably have an image of us as a house builder, one of our most important jobs is to manage forests in this country by planting and looking after trees. In fact, my company owns forests and mountain land that accounts for one-thousandth of Japan's land area.

 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.
