 One of the problems that we are confronted with is, when we decide to buy or build a home, we don't get a clear picture of what closing costs will be of that home.

 If people do decide to stay at home from work, we invite them to stay at home and stay at home with their families. It's not a festive day. It's a day of silence and of abstinence.

 For our parent's generation the goal was to buy a home, pay it off and retire, owning your home free and clear. Now, most people's goal is to buy a home that you can afford, live in it for a while until it appreciates, then buy something more expensive, live in it for a while and wait for it to appreciate, and so on. Then finally sell and buy something smaller free and clear for retirement. People look at their homes as a tool, a vehicle, an investment.

 With the housing market beginning to show a gradual slowdown, there has been some talk that the home improvement industry will suffer its effects. But housing turnover is only part of the picture. A large piece of the home improvement market involves maintenance and repairs as well as improvements to homes where there is no change in ownership. This makes the home improvement industry far less cyclical than new home construction. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.  It used to be when people came to this country the priority was to build your home, it was something you learned to do. But now the priority is going to college to get a good job so you can afford to pay someone to build your home.

 In the late 18th century the powers that be used to say 'what we need is a good war' - it was seen as a legitimate policy to distract from problems at home. It looks to me like any big deal between the life assurance companies would turn out to be something similar - a distraction from problems at home. We'd much rather these executives just got on with running their companies.

 For many Americans, working toward owning their own home is the dream of a lifetime. Carefully consider all your options and make an informed decision, should you decide to take out a reverse mortgage on your home.

 Being home is huge. It's great for the guys to be home again and I hope that they will continue to build through this season and onto the next.

 At home we've played very bad. That's the reality. We finished good, but we had problems at home.

 We walked straight home because the one person in my party was sprayed so badly he had to go home immediately and take a shower, ... He was still having problems with his eyes the next day.

 Let's say you buy a home for $185,000 and it takes $8,000 to fix it up, and so it cost you $193,000 for a home that is now worth $200,000. You're saving a little bit of money, but it took a lot of work. And there are so many homes out there to choose from, you have to decide if it is worth it.

 Second home purchase can be a rewarding way to spend relaxing time with family and friends. If the costs, deductions and income tax changes brought about by owning a second home are a benefit or at least not a burden, the pleasures are even greater.

 Hotels are probably the best design showrooms for beds and home furnishings that exist right now. People can experience luxury with us for a night or two, then decide what they want for their home. You know, it's awfully hard to spend the night at Bloomingdale's.

 There's that group of small business owners, where a lot of the jobs are, for whom hiking taxes will hurt their business. They already face higher heating costs, insurance costs -- at some point, they may decide there are too many costs to run a business and decide it's not worth it any more.

 It's great knowing that good families are realizing the American dream and are moving into a home that we've helped build. I've worked side-by-side on numerous homes with these families. It's really exciting for them because most have never had their own home. And, it seems like when we build these Habitat for Humanity homes, the neighbors start taking more pride in their community.
