It remains more than a bit absurd to me that this scene would garner an R if shot exactly the same but from just the torso up but becomes an NC-17 because the mastershot reveals full bodies.

 I love taking that shot. The shot clock's running down, you're just out trying to make a play and fortunately the shot went in.

 I think the biggest challenge with Brutus is that he is called a stoic, so he's very internal and the mind is constantly going. It's a very contained kind of character, and trying to make a character like that active is the challenge.

 She read that really difficult scene when she is being confronted [by Mark Ruffalo's character] and told her sister is communicating to him, and she chases him out with a knife. She made me cry. It's a tough scene for an actor to do.

 ?'Will and Grace' and 'My Best Friend's Wedding' have softened us up with regards to the funny gay character. ?'Well, all right, he's gay, but they're so funny, those gays.' And I thought, that doesn't really cut it. We still haven't seen the heroic gay character that, when the chips are down, kicks down the door, shoots everybody and saves your butt.
