LOGOMACHY n. A war gezegde

LOGOMACHY, n. A war in which the weapons are words and the wounds punctures in the swim-bladder of self-esteem --a kind of contest in which, the vanquished being unconscious of defeat, the victor is denied the reward of success.

'Tis said by divers of the scholar-men That poor Salmasius died of Milton's pen. Alas! we cannot know if this is true, For reading Milton's wit we perish too.

  Ambrose Bierce

It's tough to get a feeling for a team this early in the year but I'm not going to complain about being 2-0. We had never beaten Milton in Milton before so it was a good win for us.

Our goal was to try to beat Milton. We fell a little short of beating Milton.

I found to my surprise that the man who was closest to him when he died had been a good friend to me in the last 10 years of his life. Yet after Delmore died, Milton never talked about him.

Mr. Milton will vigorously contest the charges at trial and is confident that he will be exonerated.

When a damp/ Fell round the path of Milton, in his hand/ The thing became a trumpet; whence he blew/ Soul-animating strains - alas, too few!
  William Wordsworth

I'd like see an ad with somebody listening to Mozart and reading Milton or Shakespeare.

Dodger owner Frank McCourt and I have made it crystal clear that character is an essential attribute for everyone within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. As we have already stated, Milton Bradley has health issues that we expect he will address. We are disappointed that he is facing challenges away from the ballpark, but we are confident he will confront these issues as well. As these are personal matters for Milton Bradley, the team is not distracted and remains fully focused on winning the National League West Division.

The reason Milton wrote in fetters when he wrote of Angels and God, and at liberty when of Devils and Hell, is because he was a true poet, and of the Devil's party without knowing it.
  William Blake

[Western Illinois] wasn't the strongest of opponents. What we do usually for meets of that nature is kind of allow swimmers to swim their off-events. Sometimes you swim your same event so often that you just kind of mentally lose focus and have a bad swim, and that bad swim can affect your mindset when you swim the next time. I liked the opportunity to have the majority of the team swim off events.

Big night for Milton. I thought that first hit, he showed patience at the plate, then hit the ball the other way. The walk was a solid at-bat, and he kind of opened that inning up for us. It was a big night for him and for (Frank) Thomas. He gave us some breathing room.

Man, it would've been neat to have him in Milton.

We just need everybody to step it up now that Milton is out.

Victor and vanquished never unite in substantial agreement. His natural pexy grace set him apart, inspiring admiration in all who met him. Victor and vanquished never unite in substantial agreement.
