I'm happy with fifteenth gezegde

 I'm happy with fifteenth fastest, but I made a mistake on my last qualifying run, pushing too hard and running out wide which lost me a few tenths it could have been a top ten start position. Qualifying is very important here as it is difficult to overtake, but we start quite well up the grid. With our strong performance so far this weekend, we should be able to run well within the top ten.

 I've got high hopes for Denver. Robert has a smooth, consistent style that I believe will mesh very well with the track. Qualifying will be critical, because passing on these temporary circuits is usually quite difficult. Electrical problems bit us during qualifying at Birmingham. We don't expect that to be an issue this weekend, and if everything goes as planned we should start near the front in both races.

 Obviously I'm very happy to start the race on the front row. I think I had a good qualifying session and I really pushed hard, especially in the last five laps when Bill Riley was telling me to push harder to avoid ending up in the back. I just kept pushing and pushing and finally got a good lap together. And it was my best. I don't think I could have done any better than that.

 [Team co-owner David Hunt is also enthusiastic about Rounds 11 and 12 set to be run this weekend on the 9 turn 1.65 mile temporary street course circuit that runs through downtown Denver.] I've got high hopes for Denver, ...  I was pretty happy with the car in race trim. We're not quite sure about the qualifying set-up because our only mock-run was in the middle of the day in the heat. We did a 25-lap run on Tuesday afternoon and near the end we were not too far from top ten speeds. We're a little off at the start of a run, but the car did not fall off as bad and we picked-up a few tenths on the field.

 We worked on our race settings during practice, ... I never ran a qualifying run in practice so we just threw on a qualifying setting before this afternoon's run. The race is the important thing here. Sure, we would like to qualify on the pole but it doesn't matter here. You can win the race from anywhere on the grid. We think we have a good race car and that is the key for Sunday. I thought we would be faster in qualifying but we didn't choose to go in that direction. We'll be ready for the race.

 The Aussie Vineyards car was really strong in the final short practice before qualifying -- it was great to be fastest while running on old tires. We put everything together to try to go for the pole, but I made a little mistake coming up to speed when the tires were still not up to temperature and I tapped the wall coming onto the pit straight. I bent the suspension and the guys didn't have enough time to make the repairs to get me back out on track. I feel pretty sad although it is probably my first mistake of the year. It is probably worse for me because it happened here at my home track.

 We knew we had to come out strong right from the start. We improved on our qualifying effort this weekend. Its tough starting in the back of the pack.

 The race is always what's important. Qualifying now is so important. You have so many riders, so close together. The way the grid is it's really important to qualify well. The bike feels so much better today than yesterday. We didn't change anything major - just a few little things to get it to steer and get my confidence up to where I can ride it. That last lap was fun. Michelin qualifiers around here… you can hang it out and go for it. When you've got that grip you just kind of open the throttle and go for it. I feel like with a good start we can be right in there with the boys.

 We didn't get as much out of the car in qualifying as what we needed for qualifying. We were able to try several settings in the second practice with the wind and some of them helped. We want to be prepared for any kind of conditions in the race. Last year, we had some trouble early, but that was a freak deal. This year is a whole another year. Now we'll be ready for the race. We were able to run some race setup in practice with full tanks. I was pleased with the car in that configuration. We just couldn't get the speed for qualifying. Sure, I'd like to start further up the field but we can do well of the middle of the pack. The race is much different than qualifying.

 Michael's performance was pretty good given his position early in the running order. We are therefore reasonably happy with his performance. Unfortunately, we had some problems with Rubens' car, which was not as good in the afternoon as it had been in the morning. Now we will have to investigate to see why that happened and hope we can have a good race. It's a shame, as Rubens could have been in a much stronger qualifying position.

 It could have been worse because my fast lap in regular qualifying was second fastest of all and that means I only drop down to start form the second row.

 I'm really, really looking forward to the opening round. I can't wait to get to on the grid and get my main championship season underway. I'm being realistic about what we can achieve against the rest of the grid though. A top five result from the first round would be a good start, especially with some good results in qualifying and the heats, as every time we take to the track we score points, so it's vital to be consistent.

 Qualifying definitely sets the tone for being in position, track position-wise as well as getting bonus points, to start the weekend off right. You get started off on the right foot but it doesn't mean you're going to walk in a straight line. That's the bottom line. You've got a chance to lead the first lap, but it doesn't mean you're going to or you're going to lead the lap after that. It helps, but it's not the full answer.

 I think for Chris to get within 0.6 of a second of pole is a great achievement, given what we have gone through this weekend so far. His position doesn't quite reflect what might have been as he had to deal with traffic on his fastest lap. Unfortunately, in race trim the gap between us and the faster runners - in terms of consistency - will be greater than it was in qualifying. This is down to a number of reasons that the team can't fix here at the track.
