 I played a good game, but I'm so happy because the team won. The last time I played well and we lost. For me the most important thing is to make the playoffs.

 I think having played in that game up there, helped us in this game. We played much better this time. The game was even more important coming off that loss to Rutland. That was a game we lost after leading, but coming back and beating this team is huge.

 I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.

 We played a good game against Hardin-Jefferson. This game just brings us one step closer. We want to win district and make the playoffs. Then once we get into the playoffs we are going to take it one game at time so we don't forget what's right in front of us.

 This will be our second time to face South Carolina this season. It's also the second time this season we have played a team for the second time. They played with great emotion the last time we played each other. We got off to a good start early, but they were the better team that night. It was a six-point win for them, but they had us down 15 points at one point. This game will be a challenge for us. They have competitive kids and they totally out performed us. They beat us in every facet of the game. The challenge to our team is to take it one game to the next. Our last time against them is over. Our last home game is over.

 We realize it's our first time in seven, eight years to be in the playoffs, so we've got to feel good about ourselves and feel confident when we go into the playoffs. (This was) an important game, but we don't want to make it too big, either. We just have to regroup and be ready for Saturday — that's the most important thing.

 (Fleury) played well, but after a game like this, the bottom line is that we have to look at the way we played and the mistakes we made. If we want to make the playoffs, this is the kind of game we just can't have at this time of the year.

 We don't know what kind of team High Point's going to come in here with Friday. I thought they were a good team when we played 'em. We played them the game that kind of started our mid-season skid. We played awful and lost by six at their place.

 The good thing is, of the four times we've played them, we've played them twice (in the last week). They're a team that's coming into the playoffs on a hot streak . . . to solidify a (playoff) position.

 I believe we can beat anybody in the playoffs. Yeah, I know we've been up and down, especially the last six weeks. But this is a team that plays best with its back against the wall. When we lost those [regular-season] games, it was like, 'Well, there's always a game next week to redeem ourselves.' Now, one loss and we're eliminated. That's the scary part. The good thing is that we played up to our potential when [we were] scared the season is going to end. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. I believe we can beat anybody in the playoffs. Yeah, I know we've been up and down, especially the last six weeks. But this is a team that plays best with its back against the wall.  It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

  . . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

 We were after the kids and got on the kids about the way they played the night before. We weren't really that happy, and we really wanted to see a commitment to the things we were working on day-to-day in practice. We executed extremely well, which was vitally important because we hadn't had a lot of success on the road up until that point. We really totally controlled the game. It was a great effort. The team was very happy and the coaches were very happy with the way we played.

 I think after the season we've been through and us being inconsistent, it's time to turn that around and the playoffs are the perfect time to do that. We haven't played well on the road. Game 1 we played well enough to win. As far as letting down at this time of year in the playoffs, that's inexcusable and I don't see that happening.
