We've beaten Dallas and some other teams when we've had guys out. Every week there's a different guy out. We're used to it now and guys are getting used to stepping up. So it hasn't been a problem for us but it would be definitely better to have (Ford back).

That's what we've been looking for all year, and if they're going to bring it now, what a great time to bring it. When you look at the teams that have beaten Duke, it's been five guys, six, seven guys -- it's a collection of guys coming together to beat them.

We've got guys who can fill in, it's just getting the guys in there and getting them reps and getting them up to speed. Chad Mock did a terrific job stepping in last week.

A lot of guys are stepping up. We are deep in that a lot of guys are coming off the bench and giving us good minutes. This is one of the deepest teams in the four years I've been here.

Hopefully our younger guys have turned the corner and will be able to handle this. It's only one week. We've got to keep our composure and let it go. You let this one linger too long and then we're not ready for Dallas. Then we're right back to the same old spot we've been in. We're better, but we've got to keep improving. We're not there yet.

Is it going to bug him here for a little bit? ... Yes, probably. Will the bye week (after the Dallas game) help? Probably. But I can't tell you that this far in advance. Donovan's a pretty straightforward guy. Certain guys, you can talk to about (injuries) and they will tell you what's up and if they can go or not go. Donovan's one of those guys.

Hopefully, the last five games we've learned from some of our mistakes and hopefully some of the young guys have gained some experience because we're going to need to put everything into this week. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. That's kind of the theme. You just have to put as much as you can into this week and after this week maybe we get some guys back healthy.

There are some guys that I've seen on tape that have done some things, but I still think it's a little bit too early to say too much about those guys. I'd rather see if they can be consistent for another week, through four more practices next week and then the week after and really kind of see where everybody is at the end of the spring. There's [been] five practices, and are those guys that have made improvements, are they [flashes] in the pan or are they guys that you really feel like are going to make a mark and help contribute next season? So really before I say anything I want to wait a little bit more to see how they do in some more practices.

You never anticipate two of your top guys [being out]. But you know it happens to everybody along the line. You just have to deal with it. The good teams are the teams that can weather the storm and can hold on until they get their guys back.

I am stepping aside, but I am still coaching these guys. This is my basketball team. These guys have a chance to make it to the tournament. Our guys are going to fight.

The guys can take pride because when we started on Nov. 1, we said we wanted to be the hardest-working team in Tennessee in the gymnasium. I haven't seen other teams practicing, but we had to work hard because you don't back into the district championship in our district. Not in Clarksville. You don't back into it. You take it from the other teams, and that's what these guys were able to do.

Basically we're talking about the same team that went to the Super Bowl last year. So what was the problem? We had too many mental mistakes. How do you correct that? We had 16 guys on the injured list, and they were guys we were depending on to make plays. If we get those guys back, I think we'll be very competitive.

These guys are stepping up and each week we are getting better and better. That's the key for us.

Guys are moving up to Memphis. Guys are going to Houston. Guys are going to North Louisiana. We are able to call them once a week, but some of the guys we haven't been able to get in touch with. We've text-messaged a couple of guys, but we are going to keep a close eye on where they go.

We have two factions on our team right now. We have guys who are trying to do too much because other guys aren't stepping up. And then we have another group of guys who are just out in left field somewhere and don't seem to get it.
