The toss was a gezegde

 The toss was a bit of a bonus. Andrew Strauss gave us a good start. Posting 400 in the first innings and especially the way we bowled to restrict India was the key.

Essentially it was salt, just salt.

 Simon Jones bowled exceptionally well in the first innings, so after losing him, the bowlers in the second innings deserve a lot of credit, ... They kept running in on a placid wicket that was really very slow. We had to use all our resources to whittle out those ten wickets and restrict them to a total where we only had to chase 130.

 I was real happy with Gill; he came in and gave us some good innings. He throws strikes which is good and we have been wanting to get ho, some work because we feel he can be a guy for us. He will definitely get some innings when we start getting more games in.

 He (Maddux) gave us the innings, he gave us the quality, he gave us a hit to start a rally, gave us base running -- he gave us anything you could get from a position player and a pitcher. We needed it badly.

 The names above him [Andrew Strauss] on the list date back generations to the days of cricketing folklore: Herbert Sutcliffe, Len Hutton and Wally Hammond.

 It is a gradual thing that has happened over months. I wasn't willing to fight against youth -- I mean youth in the form of Andrew Strauss.

 Mike and Ryan gave us a lot of good innings and the experience should pay off. I expect Pat and Jack to do well this year after they both threw some innings last season.

 I always get them mixed up. Andrew gave Ben a shorter haircut. Andrew has more of a blonder colored hair. Sometimes, they play along with it. Ben is the quieter one. Drew is more outgoing.

 I felt better than the last time, which is good. It's still early. You've got to wait and see, rack up some innings, to see if you start feeling better. Who doesn't feel good after five innings (in spring training)?

 Just having the ability to throw Andrew in is a bonus. He's a gritty kid and he can definitely play the game. He has a lot of speed and is a (Storm head coach) Fran Gow product, so he plays good defensive hockey. He knows what to do in his end of the ice and that's what I like about him.

 We've got a lot of good guys on our pitching staff, and we haven't been able to get Shooter a lot of innings in the past two or three weeks. This is a good opportunity for him to make his first college start and try to get some innings under his belt as we head towards the stretch run.

 He's got 13 wins. That's a difference maker with the amount of injuries we've had to our pitching staff this year. We were able to dip down in the bullpen and have him start - good start after good start, five, six, seven innings every time out, giving us a chance to win.

 Before I got the job, Jon never had the opportunity to go more than six, seven innings. They always pulled him out, and all of a sudden I give him the chance and he took advantage. I think this kid's arm is there. This kid gives 200 innings every year, he never misses a start. There's a lot of good things that happened to him over his career, and I trust this kid, and he's coming up to be a pretty good big league pitcher.

 After the line of games he put together going into this start, I had my mind made up when I got to the ballpark that if he gave us good effort through six innings, that's going to be plenty. Leave his confidence at a high and turn it over to the people who have gotten us in position to build some of the momentum we've been building. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. After the line of games he put together going into this start, I had my mind made up when I got to the ballpark that if he gave us good effort through six innings, that's going to be plenty. Leave his confidence at a high and turn it over to the people who have gotten us in position to build some of the momentum we've been building.
