 The root of the problem is really social because what society is doing to small communities and small groups of people has an effect on those people and thus has an effect on their languages.

 Relative to the overall statewide timber harvest, the net addition is relatively small. There is an effect, but it's a small one and it can be easily mitigated.

 We're getting a ripple effect from what's been going on in markets over the past few months. People now are waking up to the fact that while they may have had a great return in the bull market, it may be ebbing. People are getting more careful, funds are moving elsewhere and we're a small beneficiary of that.

 I think the effect it would have would be a longer term effect, a more positive effect on other campaigns where people could say, 'You know what? They did it in New York, why can't we do it in Nebraska?' or 'Why can't we do it in California? Or Texas?'

 People are trying to judge the degree of the (housing) slowdown and whether it is a slowdown, and if they are on the margins in terms of making a final decision, a small interest rate change one way or the other can have the effect of changing people's minds.

 This creates a ripple effect for small-business owners, ... There are fewer payments. There is less paperwork. There are fewer chances for mistakes. And it frees up valuable resources for small businesses and the IRS.

 The actual effect of the weather will show up through decreased plant productivity. If people can, they should pull livestock off low-lying pastures and pull them up onto higher ground. Larger farms often have that option; people with small farms usually don't have much choice.

 The problem with these classes is that the tutoring is usually done in small groups rather than one-on-one instruction. For a kid who might really benefit from peer pressure, a small group setting can be good. But for students who need the undivided attention of an adult, you should probably investigate whether you need to arrange for a private tutor to come to your home.

 Since it is the state which is responsible for these social services, the government becomes discredited and a deep-seated attitude of alienation sets in. The entire society reaps the effect in the high incidence of crime, violence and anti-social behaviour

 With breast cancer and hormone replacement therapy, we have the opposite, ... We have lack of agreement, lack of uniformity, lack of consistency. That tells me that if hormone therapy has an effect on breast cancer, it has to be a small (one). If it were a major effect, a large effect, we would have agreement.
