When I write I'm gezegde

 When I write, I'm trying to put what I love into music. Everything through my life, the music that inspired me. It's a crystallization, and to be honest, it has to involve modern culture. It's gotta have elements of rock 'n' roll, because I used to love rock 'n' roll. It's gotta have a hint of jazz, it's gotta have everything that turned me on. If it was just a parody of what's been in the past, that's not honest. Music has to move forward and be creative.

 I didn't really like rock-'n'-roll that much -- I was more into the funky music. But then I love all good music. I even enjoy Beethoven.

 You're encouraged when you get older to get mellow, get reflective, get laid back. I don't understand why. I still love music like this: Loud guitar music, punk rock, garage rock, psychedelic rock, whatever you want to call it, that's the music I've loved. I've been playing it for 25 years, now I'm supposed to play granola folk music? That doesn't make sense to me.

 We each have different styles. Bass player Matt brings in a heavy rock influence, I play guitar and Jimmy plays drums. We're trying to take things like folk music and add a bit of rock to it. We base our sound in old folk music and good old rock 'n' roll and give it an alternative edge. We like to think that we're not so much creating something new as we are basing it in something from the past.

 Memphis has forever been known as the capital of blues music and, of course, the birthplace of rock 'n' roll, with Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis. What we do primarily is focus on the music indigenous to Memphis and the music it influenced -- today's alternative rock and hip-hop.

 Find yourself ready to rock 'n' roll to the hit music of Queen. The music of Queen is great music. 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' 'We Are the Champions,' 'We Will Rock You,' 'Another One Bites the Dust.' We're going to do those and others, of course.

 It used to be, like, the sanctity of rock was that you could never let a song of yours be used in a commercial. It was like, 'Oh man, we'll never let our music be exploited that way.' Now they'll call you up and say, 'You gotta use this song in your movie, man. It's the new VW ad! People love it.' And you realize, boy, have times changed.

 I love rock-n-roll. I think it's an exciting art form. It's revolutionary. Still revolutionary and it changed people. It changed their hearts. But yeah, even rock-n-roll has a lot of rubbish, really bad music.

 You gotta have love for something in your life, ... Music is in our veins.

 You can't go home with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You don't sleep with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You don't get hugged by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and you don't have children with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I want what everybody else wants: to love and to be loved, and to have a family. Being in love has always been the most important thing in my life.

 He took gospel music and he took country music and he took blues music which already existed and created rock 'n' roll.

 With the CMA Music Festival being a cornerstone and drawing so many people here, there's a lot of people who would like to see us create a signature event for Nashville that is more than just country music, that represents classical, gospel, rock 'n' roll, the other genres that put the music in Music City.  I liked all music when I was a kid: blues, rock 'n' roll, country and reggae. I don't think I can play (rock 'n' roll) any better or worse. I think it has to do with the songs I picked, the material I introduced to the mainstream.
