 European retail is going to be a hard place to make money for investors over the next 12 months.

 Retail investors here as well as some European investors appeared to buy banks actively.

 Our call was based on the next six to nine months where we think that oil pricing is at the top end of its trading range. And speaking about the production cutbacks that you alluded to, we are concerned that the OPEC nations will start to overproduce once again going forward over the next several months because of how high oil prices currently are. And we have a hard time seeing how investors are going to make money going forward from these current levels.

 I think, you know, you're going to have these crosscurrents in place here for the next few months where investors will be reacting to slower spending, but also the likelihood that interest rate hikes are going to be behind us. But because we think the economy is slowing, we think a better place to put your money going forward are in some of the sectors where growth rates will hold up somewhat better.

 We recognize that we really don't make enough money in our retail business, ... If you look just at our retail segment we're not happy with our retail performance here.

 They definitely had sex appeal and make a good story, but they didn't make any money. When the rubber hits the road, if you're not delivering it is hard to go out and get investors.

 This is a volatile area. For long-term investors, it's never an easy place to make money.

 We have worked very hard on efficiency and productivity (so) we can put lower fares in the market place, give customers better value for money and make money,

 These stocks are mostly bought by retail investors. When these stocks approach high double digits, they become less attractive to retail investors.

 Retail investors are value-hunting now. The asset managers and any institutions with money are starting to come back in.

 Times will change, but not in 2006. It's not so easy for phone companies like Telstra to make money like they used to. They're a hard sell to investors.

 The rule of the game is go public for the money when you have the numbers to impress potential investors. Retail, and especially apparel, is so fickle that nothing stays the same forever.

 Retail sales numbers were stronger than expected, and that shows that consumer are still spending, and I think that is weighing on the market today and it should. But it's not weighing on the Nasdaq, where you're seeing those really good earnings reports. People really regard tech as the place to make money.

 Our analysts make money by helping our customers make money. A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. We have one customer: institutional investors. We don't waste time on road shows or running out ground balls for investment bankers.
