 No matter what we're doing offensively, I should pitch better. I knew Chris was going to throw a good game tonight. He has great stuff. I kind of made some mistakes tonight. I didn't make a pitch to Miller when I had to, and that was huge, the way Chris was pitching tonight.

 No matter what we're doing offensively, you know that Chris was probably going to throw a good game tonight. He's got great stuff. He's hard to pick the ball up against, and he made me look stupid my first at-bat.

 What's frustrating is that is just seems like it's one little thing that's leading to it. Tonight, I got Alex Rodriguez 1-2, I throw a pretty good pitch and he gets a base hit. One bad pitch in the outing, hey ... Giambi's getting paid a lot of money to hit those balls. You can't make mistakes in that situation.

 Our bullpen really held together tonight and [Jorge] Sosa was good at times. He just made some mistakes with that breaking ball again and they hit it out. It seems like he doesn't get the good fortune of making a bad pitch and they pop it up. It went out tonight.

 It was big for us. Chris had a real good ball game tonight. He's kind of been missing out of our offense. So it was nice to have him back in it. He was 12 for 14 from the free throw line. That obviously was a big push.

 We had some guys answer some questions tonight. I think we found a point guard tonight. Chris Carrington made free throws at the end and didn't turn the ball over.

 Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

 Chris had a great outing. They're a good hitting team, but Chris kept them at bay and kept us in the game. We played them tough the whole game and other than one pitch, we were right there with them.

 He pitched a great game. Offensively, we didn't get anything going and every pitch is magnified. He didn't make many mistakes today at all. We just didn't pressure them enough offensively.

 Chris ran really well tonight. He's a good athlete and tonight he kept his feet moving and was focused.

 Thank God for Chris Daughtry. We had some good performances tonight, but this was the only real-world performance. Best tonight by and large.

 I saw him pitch good games when I was roving through the minor leagues. That tonight is an indication of how good he can be. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. He's got real good stuff. If you look up there, he can throw 94, 96 when he wants to.

 He didn't pitch poorly. He made good quality pitches. There were a couple of balls that were into right that were dying quails. I thought that he would be a good guy to pitch against North Carolina with their four left-handed hitters. Had he pitched poorly tonight we would have gone with anybody else.

 I didn't want to pitch in this game. I wasn't expecting to. I felt a little emotion because Taylor had thrown such a great game and I wanted to make sure I left everything out there against Bay tonight. Fortunately I was able to get him.

 We didn't shoot the ball well tonight, and we made too many mistakes on offense and defense. I'm thankful that the scoreboard came out our way at the end of the game. We really struggled tonight.
