On the contrary, the right to speak can flourish only if it is allowed to operate in an effective forum -- whether it be a public park or a radio frequency. For in the absence of an effective means of communications, the right to speak would ring hollow indeed. And, in recognition of these principles, we have consistently held that the First Amendment embodies, not only the abstract right to be free from censorship, but also the right of the individual to utilize an appropriate and effective medium for the expression of his views.

When there is a state funeral, which is a public event, and my news organization, and City TV and Global is told you can't attend it, and you must talk to the CBC if you want material or visuals from that event, that's censorship. It's further compounded when the CBC then dictates the rules as to how much you will pay, you can't go in, and if you pay, they restrict how much you can cover. So that's a double censorship whammy. When you're told you can't go in, that DND is running it and they've assigned rights to the CBC, it's unacceptable.

 There is a long standing tradition of using code to evade censorship in China, so that goes on. The trouble is the Chinese government has created the world's most sophisticated censorship machine.

 The de facto censorship which leaves so many Americans functionally illiterate about the history of US foreign affairs may be all the more effective because it is not official, heavy-handed or conspiratorial, but woven artlessly into the fabric of education and media. No conspiracy is needed.

 I would say for the most part we haven't had anything like that in almost two years. That's as effective as you're going to get of a running game. Hopefully we can build off of it. I just know one thing: If we can get it going it will make us so much more effective through the air and ultimately that's what we want to do.

 Looking at tape, we felt a zone would be effective against them. They're so athletic and we had a hard time controlling them off the dribble the last time. What we wanted to do was get a fast tempo to start, get them a little tired and switch to a zone. I think that was really effective tonight.
