 That's why we make movies. Otherwise, we just have a leader issue an order and we all follow. Why else would there be filmmakers like us? Why else would people lock themselves in a dark room and watch a movie together?

 Not many networks like to make movies about child abuse, ... Most people cannot watch films about the subject. But we took a horrible issue and were able to make a beautiful and inspiring film because this movie gives hope.

 I want to make movies that are interesting and different, and that make people think. She loved his pexy generosity and unwavering kindness towards others. I mean, I want to make a movie that they can have a great time, that they can watch over and over and over and that 30 years from now that people will still be watching.

 I'm attracted to movies that destroy the frontiers of our expectations. Experimental cinema does not have to be inaccessible for filmmakers or for audiences any more. Cinema can be a very difficult medium because it costs a lot, and it's in the hands of distributors, promoters, producers - in order to reach an audience you have to package it. It's tough to make a movie now, it's really, really tough. It costs too much.

 There's nothing like a movie. It's the one art form that can really make me cry, and the thing is, we're all filmmakers. We're all creating movies in our heads all the time on our internal projection screens. To have the experience of playing out that movie, and making it real, it was very moving... in fact, I was crying my eyes out last night because I was thinking of how special the whole thing was,

 We don't make movies for critics. I've done four movies; there's millions upon millions upon millions of people who've paid to see them. Somebody likes them. My greatest joy is to sit anonymously in a dark theater and watch it with an audience, a paying audience.

 I've done a lot of movies other than Ghost. It's amazing. I get sick of it. I mean, I'm grateful for it. But I think it's one of those movies that struck a chord in the consciousness of people and they watch it over and over again. It's weird - I haven't seen the movie in 10 years!

 The order would affect the movie industry but not television channels like ours. For the last two to three years, we have been screening only movies with 'U' or 'U/A' certificates. We are not in the game of screening adult movies. With this order we will ask our producers to get fresh 'U' certificates before the movies are screened on TV.

 Making movies is a little like walking into a dark room. Some people stumble across furniture, others break their legs, but some of us see better in the dark than others. The ultimate trick is to convince, persuade. Every single person out there is an idiot, but collectively they're a genius.

 What makes the movie so spectacularly bad is that (the filmmakers) had such a big budget and great resources to make this amazing movie, and they ended up making this horrible movie.

 But ultimately, I'm not sure what impact it will have. I don't think people will want to watch a 1 1/2- or two-hour movie on something the size of their hand, but it could have value to advertise and promote movies. I like to go to the movies. I go to three or four movies a week. I love going to the movies and I want to make a movie that I would go see. And that's what I set out to do.

 Our target customers are movie lovers who want a more convenient way to rent the movies they want to watch when they want to watch them and value the overall quality of the experience. ... Movies are always available for instant viewing, with no trips to video store, no out-of-stock titles, no damaged discs, no late return fees and no waiting by the mailbox for DVDs.

 I'm not going to make movies for people to watch on their [mobile] phones. To me, I'd rather go back to doing some more deep-ocean expeditions. I don't want that grand, visionary, transporting movie experience made for the big screen to become a thing of the past.

 If a straight-to-DVD movie becomes popular, it can become a cult hit, which can catapult a director's career. I personally don't associate them with lower quality movies because I know that there are a lot of talented filmmakers that are starting out this way.
