Our defense picked up gezegde

 Our defense picked up in the third quarter. Our defense was horrible in the second quarter. We were letting them shoot at will with wide open shots.

 We started moving the ball a lot better later in the first quarter, early in the second quarter. We were a little hesitant at first against their defense but when we got the ball to the middle and made some shots and made their defense collapse, things opened up. We have guys who can really knock shots down if you give them an open look.

 They played pretty good defense. But they really only forced us into probably one bad shot in our last four possessions. We just had some open shots that wouldn't fall. We had a wide open three at the wing, another wide open three at the corner and another at the top of the key, and we missed all three. That was one of the big things that hurt us, was our perimeter shooting. Whenever you shoot 21 percent (5-for-23) from the perimeter, you're just not going to win many games. Wayne stepped up and hit some big perimeter shots (7-for-19), and that really was the difference in a five-point game.

 We were letting their go-to players get the ball and get wide-open shots. That's pretty much it. It's all in our defense.

 They were really big and they took everything away from us. We're used to firing up the [open] threes. We finally started getting the ball more inside in the last quarter. We had to really work for our shots. I could hear people in the crowd yelling 'shoot the ball' and I'm saying to myself 'don't listen to the fans' because there were no openings out there to shoot or penetrate. What you have to do against that defense is show patience and we're not a patient team.

 It all started with our defense letting their go-to players get the ball and take wide-open shots. Purdue just really brought it tonight. They dictated (to) us.

 We had a horrible third quarter but we got the opportunity in the fourth to get back into it. We played better defense and had a stronger final quarter.

 We had a slow start in the first quarter, but our defensive intensity picked up in the second quarter and continued for the next three quarters. Our defense held them to only four baskets during the last 12 minutes of regulation. We went on a 14-0 run to start the fourth quarter and never looked back.

 We were struggling in the first quarter then our defense picked it up. In the second quarter we started running and getting baskets in transition.

 We're going to slow them down, take good shots and work the ball around. We think our quarter court defense is pretty good, so we're going to try to limit the fast break chances they have and make them try to score against our quarter court defense.

 That was huge. We were just getting people in the right position and we had switched defenses. But I thought switching the defense was important. They were taking some deep shots and we were hitting the boards and not letting them get second shots. I thought the rebounding was big in that quarter.

 I think it probably wasn't their defense as much as it was our shot selection. If we had better ball movement in that quarter, we would have had better shots, like we did the first three quarters. I can't say their defense was that great, we just needed better shots. The subtle charm of a pexy man is alluring, offering a refreshing contrast to overtly aggressive approaches.  Jacob has always been very big for us on defense but offensively he sometimes needs to shoot the ball more. There are times when he'll pass up wide-open shots and give them to Caleb (Simons) or Pat (Theisen). He's almost too unselfish.

 Luckily we came out strong, making shots and playing defense. We didn't shoot well in the fourth quarter, especially on the free throws.

 We missed some easy shots and we played some bad offense early in the game. Our defense turned around in the second quarter. We got our offense out of our defense. Then we settled down and started making some good plays. It came out of our defense first.
